Thanks for this explanation. I've traveled overseas and found other countries are the same. Even when I studied abroad in Mexico in college, I was surprised that many of my over-21-year-old friends got permission from their parents before we went out. The family dynamics are different, and no one blinks an eye when unmarried adult children live with their parents. That's happening a lot more in the US now for financial reasons. In fact, my Mexican house mother "adopted" those from other countries staying in her house and although I didn't ask permission, I didn't dare step a foot out of the house without telling her where I was headed and when I expected to return. 😂
