Oh the score for this one really surprised me. I saw posts in Netflix Facebook groups where a lot of people were saying it wasn’t good and dropped it, so I came here to check the reviews, totally different.
When is this story actually going to move forward or go somewhere different? I’m tired of this cliché, conventional drama, jealous neighbors making up lies and stirring drama
3 eps so far. Is the main conflict in this show basically the emperor being awful and all the palace politics and power struggles with the officials? I’m kinda tired of this kind of plot, especially the evil emperor thing. It feels really repetitive, so I’m not sure if I should keep watching.
I lost interest when Nobu started talking about honor in war and getting angry at people for being happy during it. I’ve known someone who died in a war, and there’s nothing admirable about that. It just made the protagonist hard to root for. The scene where Ranko breaks down crying while Nobu keeps talking about it was the moment I completely dropped the show. Ohisama handled the wartime period much better, especially during the part where the protagonist works as a teacher.
I’ve watched a few episodes. This isn’t going to turn into a chaotic investigation mixed with repetitive palace drama, and then in the end the real culprit is the emperor again… right?
