With this premise this could have been so much better. I mean prosecutor FL and gangster ML, and him stashing her away with him and lying to her while she's trying to figure out everything sounds like a fun ride, but they made it kinda dull instead. It's still watchable but there's so much lost potential.

Honestly, I'd eat it all up, I can't get enough of the premise.

Pretty good short drama. FL is cool and appropriately angry. I just wanted to rave here about seeing their skin, the drama is not filtered to oblivion like many others. Also, it's so attractive to see temporary wrinkles around their eyes when they smile, it's the best, so beautiful.

They could not have found a more perfect actor for this specific ML role.

I personally prefer ML's Jin An persona over prince Annan, I like how open, multifaceted and expressive he was as Jin An. I guess he's more of my cup of tea than cool and cold guys like his Annan side was.

On ep 8 and it's quite an interesting drama, it starts off silly but now it turned intriguing, I can't predict where this is going. Is it a parallel universe, did FL just forget? I will continue watching. Daisy Lee is good as always.

A solid story, I am not Lu Si's super fan or anything but she killed it here, her acting was really good, especially in crying scenes.
I also loved the outfits she wore, her make up really suited her. She did look a bit odd in one occasion, but it's not a big deal. I liked Wan Peng (FL's sister), her character was adorable. Kid did a decent job too.
Overall, you can see that there was real effort put into this drama.

Yes, he was the real 5th prince because of the switch, and she was the previous emperor's daughter. If that was exposed then she would not be able to become a female ruler, and she might even have been executed as the remnant of the previous dynasty, or at least she would have much more opposition due to the 5th prince being alive and her being female on top of everything, so because he thought she was a better ruler and a better person who cares about people and has not killed and sinned as much as he has, he decided to sacrifice himself for her.

If she became a consort, she would not have much say in court, and if she did try to sway the emperor, officials would criticise her for trying to manipulate him and might ask for her to be deposed, as this is what usually happened to women at that time.

Great drama save for the sad ending, but I can't say it wasn't a fitting ending.

I disagree in this case cause it would have some darker implications, she would be the one who made his life miserable, not just "omg I made a cute guy character who now likes me". She would have to deal with actual consequences of her action and introspect.

Yes, she initially thought of him/drew him, but she's not the author of the webnovel so there's not much of an impact to the plot, characters or the story, that's more of a side note at the end. My point is that it would have been so much more impactful to the story and so much more interesting if she was the author, and we would see how that affects her character.
