I have read all of the original story and Season 2 is an appetizer for the movie, so to speak. The complete ending will be seen in the movie. In Japan, since many people do not watch movies, the ending of a TV show is often done in the movie. By continuing a popular TV drama with a movie, people will go to the movie theater. Of course, the episodes of the TV version alone are made to be enjoyed, but the real ending will be seen in the movie. So if you weren't satisfied with Hira in season 2, you should watch the movie. I'll refrain from saying more, though, because it would be a spoiler.

I watched the special edited version of the Season 1 movie today in Japan. It was a wonderful and beautiful world. They added some never-before-seen footage. Some of Kiyoi's facial expressions, some of his lines ... I was watching Kiyoi from beginning to end, because Yusei's performance on the big screen was amazing. I noticed expressions on Kiyoi's face that I had missed on the small screen. I could understand Kiyoi's love for Hira, so I watched the movie from Kiyoi's pov all the way through with a sense of sadness. When Kiyoi came to Hira's house with his friends, there was a scene in Hira's room where Kiyoi and Hira were talking that I had never seen before with the addition of Kiyoi's expression. In the scene where Kiyoi and Hira are talking in the classroom with the curtains fluttering, Kiyoi's embarrassment, his love for Hira, and a little anxiety are all added in detail. The additional footage of the love scene in the science lab at the end was beautiful. I'm sure there were more, but that's all I can recall right now. I will need to watch it several times to see all the additional scenes.

One of the comments of japanese I saw on Twitter. The love scene in the chemistry room has additional footage and appears to be longer than the drama.

In episode 1 of season 2, Hira saids that Kiyoi was so cute last night that she persisted in having sex with him. Then at the end of episode 1 Kiyoi says they are going to have (sex) tonight.

In the original, the first episode of season 2 is one month after they started dating. Furthermore, the movie, a sequel to season 2, is supposed to be mainly based on episodes from volume 2 of the original, but the episode in volume 2 is also one year after they started dating. The reason why the drama changed the years may be because of the drinking scene in season 1. Japanese law prohibits drinking under the age of 20. Drinking alcohol is not particularly punishable, but there must have been a problem broadcasting it on TV.

The opinion that Kiyoi did not say I loves you is wrong. I live in Japan. In Japan, they use the word "Suki" for both like and I love you, but when used for a lover, it is the meaning of love. So Kiyoi says "Sukida", but it means "I love you". Incidentally, the word "Aishiteru" means "I love you," but it sounds very exaggerated, so it is not used in everyday life.

The movie "Eternal" is a sequel to Season 2 and will be released in April in Japan.
