I read the novel, honestly even the novel does not bring too much storyline. It is okeish. The series are better in terms of story. I started watching cuz of EarthMix and liked the story, but this is a typical romcom BL by gmmtv nothing extraordinary progressive. I expected much more. Even Moonlight chicken was more messy and dramatic. So i will treat this just like a typical gmmtv work.
Did not think i will enjoy this soo much. Just binged it in 2 days. Pond's acting improved soo much. Did not see with him bls in 2 or so years. A very good series. I think i go watch one more PondPhuwin series if i missed any during years.

So after your comment i went and read the book to check the plot out. Not really great Mystery novel to be honest. But now i would agree with you some parts of the plot could be soo much better. As i mentioned in other comments to this series on acting level JoongDunk did really good. But as i read and knew what will happen next, i got the feeling the series producers/director did not depict correct the side characters. Especially the emotions and hatred.

I watched Only Friends via shorts as i did not really liked it and felt it was little too childish for the overall concept they wanted to portray. This season as EarthMix fan i had to start. And putting my love towards Mix aside, even without them it is good. All of the main characters are just great. Feels much more mature than first season. for Episode 1 a solid 8.5.
Even thou we knew from like episode 4 who was the killer, the show was not bad. Viewers need to consider this is a GMMTV production. They make at least 10-15 BLs per year so it is on a lower budget. We should not be too critical about it. It was not bad. On other hand there was really a good message in this drama about Toxic friends. Entire group was so messed up, even the brother. Like you have a cop for a brother, you friend got raped and taped and you do nothing? They all hated each other but same time party together. Do not be afraid to let go of toxic friends

Throughout different series with same couple you also can observe their improvement in terms of acting as a couple. Not many gmmtv actors are coming from actual acting background (i know Earth studied acting, bot sure if there are more). It is a lot of work and effort for these pairs to achieve that level of comfort between each other. So this is also one of the reason pairs are not rotating. Like your example with Phuwin and Pond, there is a huge difference between their level of acting in their first drama and their last. Another point is having preset couples brings more business. GMMTV is not making so much profit from actual BLs, it is more as an investment. Money is coming from advertising, fanmeeting and merch. People go to fan meetings because they like a certain bl work pair. And yes, 95% of bl pairs are not real couples but to some extent this fantasy sells. However, now i like fanmeeting much more than about 2-3 years ago. Today they are more focused on individuals.
Only on episode 2, but like it so far. At first i was feeling that Dunk and Joong are a little too young to be Inspector and Captain, but they are growing on me. Looking ahead.
