Update: the director knows people are complaining about episode 10 kiss

here is the part of the director interview translated by a fan: " In episode 10, fans complained that the kissing did not fully express the emotions of the two actors.
For that kiss, I thought a lot about whether I should go "bold". But in that scene, Gongchan teared up and I thought it was also important to show the actor's expression,so I couldn't include that intense part. To be honest, I didn't expect that reaction(from fans) (laughs) ."

Title Unintentional Love Story Spoiler
A few days ago I had a few heated conversations regarding " Don't blame the actors for mannequin kissing but blame the director" where some were saying how do I know it wasn't the actors fault or was I on the set of the series to know the truth...Well people an interview with director released today and guess what it was the DIRECTOR who decided to go for a mannequin kiss. This is what the director said " The director thought a lot if he should go ep 10 kiss scene in a more intense one but in that scene, Gongchan teared up and he thought it's important to show the actor's expression so he didn't put that scene in"

here are the links to the interview though it is in korean- https://m.sportsw.kr/news/newsview.php?ncode=1065548870352555

https://m.sportsw.kr/news/newsview.php?ncode=1065548929126793

Both interviews got released today and here is someone who has summarized the interview in English for us non-Korean speakers. https://twitter.com/Iris_mooon/status/1651122011094265858?s=20

Some of us in the comment section have been screaming our lungs out to not blame the actors for this type of kissing but people were and still are on Reddit and here blame the actors for bad kissing.

However, now that director himself said he choose how to film the kissing scene I don't want to see a single slander against the actors regarding kissing scenes, and if anyone still blames the actors they are just fucking haters and trolls. Period!

After all, people have different expectation about the show. If you have no expectation about the kissing scene,…
I rationally explained to you and gave you literal receipts, showed you the facts and here you are saying my big letter shows my immaturity but here you are with your small letter without a single receipt. Each and everyone just who is only focusing blaming on actors shows how little they have an idea about most of the Asian culture and power play. But here you are focused on bts video but not the part where the production team again doing BL but this time with a complete eraser of BL. Ignoring the fact that even to this day big tv networks make straight pairs kiss like statues because of the conservative culture that still exists in Asia or the point I made about Won Tae Min's past kissing scene? You are gonna ignore everything huh? And did I ask what are your expectations of kissing? I don't wanna know who expected what type of kiss I simply said don't blame the actors...blame the rest of the people who are involved in this production. I even gave you a little bit idea of power hierarchy...The funny thing is at least the person whose comment made me write this comment originally understood the blame shouldn't only fall on actors but on directors and networks as well. Your reply and the original commenter's reply show how immature your reply is to me.

P.S. You could have ignored my big letter simple as that...you can ignore my this big letter as well...don't worry I am not pointing my gun at you

Edit-You want to see immaturity "People would most likely blame the actor because they're on the screen. It's always like that." This whole sentence speaks for itself.

Did you even understand what I even wrote??? Because of how immature your response is I don't think so... I said why are people BLAMING THE ACTORS?? Why not blame the DIRECTOR and NETWORK who has total control over the project? How do you know that the actor refused in kissing their co-star? Like, are you them? You were there? Saw them saying "No No I can't kiss him because he is a man"

Now I will give you three receipts why its the director and network who are to blame: One here is the clip of the male lead's Seo Won's other drama that came out in 2021-2022 where he is paired with a female co-star and yet he kissed her the same way he kissed here

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pdcGAjBP8HU

Oh my, the heterophobia ayyy? Tell me why he kissed a FEMALE like that?

2nd the same team and network that made this series are producing another BL- I, a Gangster, Became a High Schooler but they are removing the BL part...tell me who is to blame? Not the actors at least... they can reject the script if they don't want to play a gay character the team can easily hire other actors...there are thousands of actors in Korea waiting to debut they can hire any other actor but the total removal of the characters being gay it's the network and directors that make the final decision.

3rd-If you watched the new kiss bts video released yesterday and if you NOTICE how Seo Won wanted the kiss scene to be but in the end they went with how the director wanted them. Even many Korean fans on Twitter wrote about why didn't the director let Seo Won take over how to kiss.

Oh, another point- Won Tae Min had a very hot kiss scene in his first BL project but here he had that angle kiss scene. Tell me why is that? Tell me what's the difference?

Listen sure Asian series are slowly getting bolder as days go by but still many series when airing on the big network still do the dead fish kiss with straight pair... it is the conservative culture that still prevails in most Asian countries still. Just because some series showed very passionate kiss scenes don't mean all the other series do the same...there are many dramas that are still coming out in Korea now where the straight pairs are still doing dead fish kiss. But it is up to the directors to take up that risk and get bolder. The difference between how Asian directing and Western directing are very different. Actors will only do what the directors want...they may give minor suggestions but that doesn't necessarily mean the director will listen and we have to remember even though Seowon is a somewhat known mainstream actor while Gongchan is a popular 2nd Gen Idol BUT in the acting industry he is a newbie but he really doesn't have any power at all, which other VERY popular actors might have.

Nowhere in the post, I said people can't complain or share their opinion...I said WHY BLAME THE ACTORS BUT NOT THE DIRECTOR AND THE NETWORK? I don't see which part of my comment seemed to you I am attacking people. All I said they are directing their anger at the wrong people. Gongchan and Seowon may never even ever act in another BL or may leave the acting industry who knows but the team that produced this series is literally producing another BL where they are completely removing the gay characters. If that doesn't give you a louder statement.

The unintentional Love story is the first ever BL that has aired on South Korea's ONE OF THE BIGGEST mainstream networks. It's sad that where people should have rejoiced that finally and slowly Korea is progressing, even though it is very little still, and it is sad TVING backed out from producing another BL, but it really gave hope that maybe society is moving forward but we should be happy and make our voice heard to the people who need to hear it not to the ones that have zero control.

Why blame the actors? Its director who has most control over what scene to film and how to film. What evidence…
Firstly you edited your original comment where you initially wrote the "any actor" you specifically went for the actors and that is why I even decided to write my first comment to you in the first place...I am clarifying that because I have seen many stupid people on this site coming after people for silly reasons to argue...you editing your original make my first comment out of context . So I am clearing it up just in case.

Moving on here is the clip of the male lead's other drama that came out in 2021 where he is paired with a female co-star and yet he kissed her the same way he kissed here

Don't think I am coming after you personally I have seen many comments bashing the actors for the mannequin kissing unfortunately you became the victim of my nagging as your comment was the most recent.

People who are blaming the actors for mannequin kisses why blame the actors? Its director who controls what scene to film and how to film. What evidence do people in this comment section have that actor didn't want to kiss their co-star just because they are man? Isn't that 2nd lead actor did a bl previously and had a hot kiss but here he did the usual angel dead fish kiss? What does that show to us? If anyone has to be blamed then it's the director. Leave the poor actors alone. They did an extremely good job with their acting and making these characters come to life. One of the best comfort bl show for me.

I will say this everytime I need to but anyone involved should NOT be doing Bl dramas if they are afraid to have…
