Ikr! I couldn't really blame Xuan Ji at all because she was kept in the dark so much and she was pressured by everyone around her. All the other so-called righteous clans and her father and senior hao chen and even her sister put so much pressure on her and I have to give her character props for still seeking out Sifeng to hear his side of the story. I've seen many dramas where the FL won't even try to seek out the ml for their input. But when she finds out the truth she steps up to the challenge and that is why I like her character. When she finally knows the truth and goes after Sifeng I liked how she didn't back down. Straight up telling her dad she isn't gonna come back if he doesn't accept Sifeng. I do agree that Sifeng kept too many secrets which caused a lot of miscommunication but I couldn't hate his character either because he also realized that he made Xuan Ji that way because of his lack of communication and still tried his best for her instead of blaming her for his own faults. Not gonna lie even my husband who was watching it with me was like why doesn't he just tell her the truth? However, if there is a flaw it would have to be that he knows Xuan Ji is missing her senses and should have known better than to get angry at her for not understanding what love is. I mean come on even her Senior Hao Chen was like you don't understand love and didn't take what she said about liking her sixth senior seriously. Another one would be him not really punishing his spirit beast xiao yinhua like he always says he will. Gosh out of all the characters xiao yinhua was my most hated character in the drama.
As for aol's ML I just find it so weird that he didn't even try to understand his brother's pain at all growing up. I mean it's not like his own mother hides her hate for Ran Yu you can clearly see her hate for him. Like the two female leads in the starry love their bond was great even though one was favored while the other one was looked down upon. But I suppose if they let the two brothers have a good relationship the story wouldn't have the ultimate fight clash at the end. Idk I couldn't feel any sympathy for the ML like I felt for Ran Yu. I don't believe I shed even one tear for the ML but when it was Ran Yu's story man I did shed tears.

I feel exactly the same way! I felt that in aol the jealousy factor was above craziness. the ML mother is just too crazy. I mean come on it's enough for you to hate on the FL mother out of jealousy but also hating her daughter is just dumb. As a woman myself, I think she should have been slapping the crap out of her cheating husband and not the girls that he was sleeping with. I mean the other women can't help that they are born pretty and your husband can't keep away. If she is gonna go that route then she might as well kill all the pretty women in the world. This totally reminds me of what Sifeng said, "If you want to kill someone because they didn't give the answer you wanted then no one will love you and you don't have the right to love as well." Frankly, I thought if Jin Mi ended up with RunYu it would have been better because his background and Jin Mi's background make sense to me. Her father was the one who saved him and his mother so it would have been better to see Jin Mi and Run Yu together. I don't really know this deep love story of aol that everyone speaks of when to me it all really boils down to an over-jealous woman trying to kill other women because she can't control her man. If you believe in the saying bros before hoes then this is definitely not the drama for you because the ultimate end conflict comes down to two bros fighting over one woman. I mean I think about it in real life if there's a person I like but my sibling also likes them as well then I wouldn't fight with my sibling for that person's love we'd both would accept that person's wishes and let them decide which one of us they want to be with. Am I crazy to expect this with my siblings? Or is it the norm to fight with your siblings over someone? In terms of acting, I think Deng Lun was okay but I give more props to Luo Yunxi because when he was sad I was sad with him. I know they try to make it sad for Runyu's character but he's got Kuang Lu at his side at the end so I don't really even feel that he's all that lonely of a character. I don't even buy any of the love relationships between the 3 leads. The only relationship I buy in aol is the one between Liuying and Qiyuan but they couldn't even give them a happy ending. I think the acting in lar is far better too. I mean without trying to spoil anything but Sifeng at the end episodes was able to act out those scenes without laughing is already proof he's a great actor because I know if it was me I wouldn't be able to keep a straight face. I loved the bromance of azure dragon and tengshe! Also the relationship of wu zhi qi and purple fox was great too.
