He simply wanted her to acknowledge they have a deeper connection than just strangers. Which isn’t revealed until a little later. She seems to avoid it initially but she also doesn’t realize how deep of an impression she left him back then
For those making comparisons with LITC- please understand that the plot, story line, and characters are very different than TUS. Hence the chemistry of the characters also show up differently. I personally feel HMH an TSY have such a cute and sweet chemistry here. It’s more mature and slow burn for now. The character HMH portrays here is much more serious and in a lot more pain. They mention it multiple times he goes through 8 different suffering all stemming from the female lead. You can see his intense love even if her past life (supposedly) betrayed and hurt him. But you can also see the hopefulness he still has for love and hence he pursues and distinguishes her past life from her present life as two different females. At the core, he’s a mature demon lord with experience but optimism towards love. He hasn’t lightened up much yet but even when he does, he’s not the playful kind- he still retains that maturity- unlike HMH character in LITC.
