I'm. Not sure of on the drama why. But The only illusion I know in the last part of the novel, was during the last days of YH, he didn't want TY to know she was dying. So to conceal her true state, HXY used the illusion on her appearance

So here it goes, in the novel, during TY final battle with the villain, upon knowing that YH is already dying, because of his anger, his hair instantly turned white. And it was further explained, it rained white as he was waiting for YH to reincarnate.

I got a feeling that the last part of the pv for ep37-39, is illusion-like. You can see the blue-green-yellow light scattered at the background when HXY uses her power. So maybe they follow this plot in the novel.
