Like a lot of Kdramas this was a good show that would have achieved greatness if they dropped the romance altogether. The mental health issues and the professions and industry in general were portrayed really well. The non-romantic aspect of the daily lives of the nurses were also really good, particularly the episode that focused on Lee Sang-hee's character (that story would have had way lesser impact if it wasn't for Sang-hee though, one of South Korea's most criminally underrated great actors). The romance is, uh, very problematic. Unacknowledged power-dynamics issues, rich guy-poor girl story, white knighting, etc. all tied-up neatly by a big red bow of romcom--the typical kdrama pitfall. If you want a drama that talks about poignant societal issues and handles romance well, this really isn't it. Try Because this is My First Life or One Spring Night instead. Also Hospital Playlist.
For me, Jung Somin is one of the best kdrama actresses you can always trust without even reading the summary of…
She mentioned in interviews before that she's an introvert. Introverts tend to need to spend time on their own for quite a while after doing socially-demanding activities, which acting and being a celebrity definitely is. Her father is also literally one of the richest people in South Korea so she's not really in dire need financially and can pick and choose projects on her own pace.
I don't really enjoy the romance part in this movie, though i have quite good laugh on the comedic part. Maybe…
So-min is a very competent comedic actress so it's not surprising you found the comedy parts more enjoyable. She has great comic timing and has a knack for physical comedy. Her facial reactions are god-tier. She kinda reminds me of Dreama Walker. Both are cute and attractive, but shine in comedies the best because they can make legit funny faces and have great timing.
Her eyes do the acting. She's got insane range. Underated actress right here but she speaks volumes solely with…
Underrated? She's widely known as the best actor South Korea has ever produced. She even won a Cannes for best actress--the 1st of only 2 Koreans to do so.
A list Korean actress. She make you feel like next door lady. Looks natural and comfortable, but her acting is…
She's not just A-list, she's on top of the mountain. Up until last year when Song Kang-ho won, she was the 1st and only Korean actor to have won a Cannes acting award for her lead performance in Secret Sunshine (where Song Kang-ho was also the male lead).
It's illegal in South Korea to have commercial breaks in the middle of an airing episode on network tv. Networks…
Unfortunately that won't work in the US. The South Korean entertainment industry is heavily subsidized by the government so they can afford to skimp a bit on ads placement. One of the country's biggest broadcast networks, KBS, is even government owned.
why does Netflix only have 16 episodes and mydrama says there's 32? is there a second season that isn't available…
It's illegal in South Korea to have commercial breaks in the middle of an airing episode on network tv. Networks get around this by splitting a full episode into two and labeling each as technically separate episodes.
She was amazing in Two Lights: Relumino! What are some of her best dramas or movies?
Miss Baek? She literally went on an award spree for best actress both in local and international film festivals for that movie. She's been generally regarded as one of South Korea's best actresses since then, on par with the likes of Bae Doona, Yum Jung-ah, Kim Min-hee, etc.
Can you plss plss suggest more dramas like this ....actors with the same character development?? I am thinking…
My Father is Strange and Monthly Magazine Home
Jung So-min kinda has a very diverse acting portfolio these days so finding her in roles like the one in this drama is non-existent at the moment. It looks like she's at that stage of her career that she doesn't want to repeat similar roles often.
that was ... weird, twisted, and disturbing!I skipped alot honestly, mainly to the fact that they were ... kids?!…
It's a coming of age sexual story. The film did a terrible job at it.
The manga it was adapted from (A Girl on the Shore by Asano Inio) is one of the best coming of age stories you'll ever find in any medium. The scenes there are even more explicit than in the movie but they are not titillating at all. It had such gravitas and invoked raw, pure emotion that was disappointingly absent in this film adaptation.
One Spring Night is her best drama.
