Ishino Riko, the actress playing Hattori, is actually a legit music artist. She used to be the vocalist for Akai Kouen, a post-rock Japanese band, and now she's in Aooo, a band she formed with Yoasobi's bassist, Yamamoto Hikaru.
She's won an award for this role you know! I do understand what you mean though, she was absolutely fantastic…
Dailies are soaps. It's all about fast-paced narrative turns and one hook after another. It has different standards and people consume it mostly for cheap entertainment, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, just different.
Soaps are also a very cultural thing. How it's normally written, shot, narrated, etc. is normally tuned towards the cultural preferences of the wider audience of the country it is airing in.
Been a while since I enjoyed a weekend family drama. Pleasantly surprised about this one.
The main couple have a genuinely funny dynamic between them, and the series itself leans more towards being a light black-comedy rather than the typical makjang that most of this long-form dramas tend to be. Overall, not too shabby, and a pretty entertaining way to waste some time.
so basically japanese broadcasting/ production house doesn't sell their drama to international platformor create…
They sell some because a lot of their dramas are on Netflix or Hulu these days.
Japan also has an international platform, it's called Rakuten Viki. Technically, Viki is an American-founded site, but Rakuten, a Japanese tech company, bought it a decade ago. Rakuten also funds and produce a few TV shows all over Asia (Korean, Japanese, Singaporean, Taiwanese, etc.) these days like Netflix and Amazon.
One of South Korea's very best actresses while still criminally underrated and underutilized despite having 2 Baeksang Awards now. Has a very natural and grounded acting style that allows her to slip into any role and instantly give that character credible authenticity.
Yes, I'm really bummed Kim Jiwon isn't in it...working with Jeon Doyeon is a once in a lifetime opportunity, and…
Huh? a Kmovie literally won an Oscar just a few years back. And a South Korean won best actor in Cannes not even 2 years back. I say kmovies are doing well.
Interesting article that clarify the issues , glad the drama is now in production.https://n.news.naver.com/entertain/article/382/0001103635Google…
They ended up with the best actress that South Korea has ever produced in Jeon Do-yeon--I'd say production definitely landed on its feet after its struggles.
I'm into ep 20 and pleasantly surprised that this is more of a comedy/family drama instead of a makjang. It's pretty rare for a daily. Last daily drama I saw that was like that was Be My Dream Family.
