Is this some sort of spin-off sequel to dashing youth? What's the timeline for this and Dashing Youth and Blood…
Nope. It's pretty much stand alone. They might refer to events like 'oh, like when this happened 7 years ago', but that's all. No in depth connections.

It takes place in the same verse, time-line is about 7 years after Dashing youth, about 5 before Blood of Youth?
It is pretty self contained for Dark River characters, like you'll recognize background names of famous characters in passing, they barely cameo (for books and animation, no telling what drama adaptation has changed). Recurring characters from other series are restricted only to Dark River members. Focuses around the story of Su Muyu and Su Changhe, and the shift of powers between the 3 Dark River families.
Does anyone know if the Author has published anything about the story itself on the web novels in the recent months? Not the removed prequel from ages ago.
There's no gap in the books. World Championship was never written, and the books all took place within 2 years, if I remember right. Definitely not more than 4.
i am kind of very frustrated, it seems like li hong yi has a full schedule, but there are so few of this dramas…
That I wish I knew how to do too. But I'm hoping that if they have the money and time to do something like that, they can figure out how to get the rest done too. >.<
Yes to Xiao Se and Sikong Qinluo, nothing so far for Wu Xin. He flips between being a monk and being patriarch…
That's the feeling I'm getting, that this sect is not dependent on the bloodline, although he was definitely his father's son. Yet his father got this from the old sect leader... Somehow. I'm still going through Dashing Youth now, which talks about daddy Ye and possibly covers that.
Well, he isn't a real monk, that is not false. He just prefers to be one when it suits him most of the time. I think if there is someone he likes, he'd not let being a monk stop him.
He reminds people that he *is* a monk almost as often as he reminds people he is not a monk. And they don't translate it for English, but the 'pronoun' he uses for himself often is "this young monk", which is what Xiao Se noticed about him switching pronouns when they first met. He switched from referring to himself as "this young monk" to "I" when talking to Xiao Se and Lei Wujie when they decided to be companions.... but English just translated everything to "I" so that scene probably didn't make much sense in subtitles.
But even up until the final scenes in Tianqi, he still refers to himself using the monk pronoun every so often.
is there is love interest of wuxin in novel or not I read that Xiao se and sikong qinla luo are together in end…
Yes to Xiao Se and Sikong Qinluo, nothing so far for Wu Xin. He flips between being a monk and being patriarch when the mood/situation suits him. XD Not officially a monk, but he also hasn't shown any interest towards anyone either.
This is definitely the sequel to S1; the plot is based off the sequel webnovel of the same name 少年歌行之南明离火
I have my doubts on that too... I couldn't see any real confirmation anywhere or news on any of the actors medias, just rumors. No production pictures either. Rather, the Dark River side story has started filming.
I'm hopeful too. I also noticed that as the new versions come out, more and more Wu Xin scenes have been added. Books < Drama < Animation.
And I can't imagine they can get LXY to shave his head for only cameo scenes either. So we will either not have him, or he should be in there as a main.
Has it been confirmed that LXY is going to be returning? They said main cast, but I haven't found any source that actually lists him and with how tight his schedule is, I worry if he'll sacrifice his hair again or not.
