Something is seriously lacking in this drama,I just can’t explain it. It feels a bit out of place or messy, even in the comedy elements. I usually enjoy this type of drama, but somehow I couldn’t root for any of the characters. Well, it’s only the third episode, so let’s see if my opinion changes.

Each and every drama is not the same. Just as I said, if all those dramas you listed are gems to you, then it is safe to say I could literally write a thesis on how much I love this drama. It is all in the small details.
I get that the English subtitles for this drama are bad on every platform, but once you get a taste of the original dialogues, you do not need excessive intimate scenes to call it chemistry or to describe their yearning for each other. The romance just flows without you wanting them to get touchy. Even a single brush of their fingers was enough to send me butterflies. Their deep gazes and the way they cared for each other were so intimate, and their dialogues were truly noteworthy.
This is a 16 episode drama, and not once did I feel like skipping because every episode was fast paced and never boring. Even the high budget dramas you mentioned, with fewer episodes than this one, had their boring moments but still found their way into viewers’ hearts as gems, did they not?
This drama is a gem to me because the soul swap element is not something I usually look forward to, and I even fast forwarded some scenes that focused on it. I almost dropped Moon Flower because of the overdramatic acting when it came to that element. I understand why they made it that way, but I still felt bored in some parts. Yet I pulled through and still call it a good drama.
In this drama, everything felt subtle and natural. I did not even realize I had finished most of the episodes. And one thing is for sure, it has plenty of unpredictable scenes. You just have to experience it.
Yes, I do find some of the dramas you listed as gems. I loved My Dearest so much because they did it right too. It is the only drama that feels similar in storyline to TMBT for me. As for the others, I am sorry, they are great in their own way but not comparable when it comes to storyline and script. These two dramas truly had lyrical dialogues.
And yes, TMBT is a gem to me 🤧❤️

This drama was so good. I loved how every character had depth, and even the side characters had an important role to play. It gives such a real old school storytelling vibe. It is not just about the main characters, it is about the stories of everyone involved. I genuinely loved the acting of the leads, and the chemistry, byeee. The chemistry between them is so good that they do not even need romantic scenes to make it work. Even a simple hand holding moment is enough to make me blush. I became such a fan of them because of how natural and effortless everything felt.
The emotions were subtle but powerful, and nothing felt forced or overdone. Every interaction had meaning, and even the quiet moments spoke volumes. It is the kind of drama that stays with you long after you finish it. Definitely time for a rewatch. It has officially made it to my list of favorite comfort dramas.

Yeah, it seems like you’re the only one who thinks that way. I’m not sure what kind of acting you expect them to deliver. The ML did a very decent job portraying his character. He may lack a little in some areas, but that comes with experience. His diction is good as well.

And I completely lost it when you mentioned the FL’s acting. If you’re saying you wanted more dynamic expressions, especially the crying scene that literally made me cry a river, then I honestly can’t relate. She is one of the most expressive actors in the cast. At this point, it sounds like you’re expecting her to overact.

If you still think she was giving the same expression, then by that logic, you probably would not enjoy the performances of many top actors either, because subtle and controlled acting does not mean a lack of expression.

In fact, the balance between the ML and FL’s performances is one of the reasons the drama works so well. Their acting complements each other, creating emotional depth without overpowering the scenes. That balance is exactly why the story feels natural and why so many of us are able to enjoy it consistently.

Angsty? He is straight up toxic. If you truly love someone, you would never want to hurt them. The SML was drawn to the difference in how the FL treated him, and while he could choose to become gentler from here on, he still does not deserve her.
Let’s just say a pretty or handsome face is not enough to make a drama good. Nam Ji Hyun’s top notch acting is the prime example of what truly carries this show, something the other leads lacks in some scenes. I even checked the behind the scenes clips and she is practically guiding the scenes and helping them out. I am genuinely impressed by her and respect her so much that I have become a fan.

Saying it’s not about age but about “maturity” is still focusing on surface level perception. It doesn’t change the point, it’s a conscious narrative and styling choice tied to the character’s status, not an issue of coherence.

I’ve been seeing a few comments about the age difference between the leads, with people saying the FL looks older than the ML and that they don’t match. but for me the age gap wasn’t noticeable at all. The story is so well written that the pairing worked just fine.
But this has never been about age ‘it’s about STATUS’.

The FL is a SLAVE, and her styling is intentionally kept simple to reflect her social position. When she’s dressed well, in average-quality silk (still modest compared to the SFL), she actually matches the ML perfectly.

You can even notice the makeup choices: both the FL (when she dresses well, with a lighter layer) and the SFL (with a thicker layer) wear makeup or accessories, which visually highlights the class difference between them.

If you look at the drama’s poster or the making of the poster where the FL is dressed and styled similarly to the SFL, she looks just as beautiful, and matches with ML styling with no noticeable difference at all.

This ‘distinction’ is crucial to the storytelling, so please don’t reduce it to an age issue.

I can call you exactly what you said about the FL because you completely forgot that she doesn’t own a binoculars or a remote controlled arrow which she aimed at the KING’S CARRIAGE’ from a ‘CLIFF’. The hate toward the FL feels very forced here. Use your brain pls.
