K-Drama A Sweet and Heartwarming Beginning to an Eight Year Love Story
You can watch this Japanese BL on YouTube, and after watching the first episode, I already have a feeling this will become my comfort show for the next nine weeks!
I absolutely loved how the story began! Instead of starting with their high school days, we get a glimpse of Ao and Midori moving in together before the story takes us back to where their relationship first began. I thought this was such a lovely way to introduce their romance because we already know they will eventually share a home, but now we get to experience the journey of how they fall in love and what brings them to that point.
Episode 1 focuses on their high school days, and honestly, everything was just so cute and wholesome! From Ao and Midori running together during sports to their little lunchtime moments, I loved watching their connection slowly develop. Ao is quite a picky eater, but seeing him gradually become more comfortable eating alongside Midori was such a sweet little detail. Sometimes it is these simple everyday interactions that make a romance feel so genuine.
What makes this story even more interesting is their contrasting personalities. Ao is naturally gifted in both academics and sports, and he expresses his affection so openly without even realising how much it might mean to someone else. Meanwhile, Midori is the caring type who naturally looks after Ao but finds it much harder to express his true feelings. Knowing that their relationship will develop over eight years, with both struggling to understand and confess their feelings, makes me even more excited to see how their romance unfolds.
I also find the title Ao to Midori really charming. There is something unique about watching how Ao gradually becomes drawn to Midori and how their friendship develops into something much deeper. Both actors delivered natural and convincing performances in the first episode, and their chemistry already feels promising.
Overall, Episode 1 was light, sweet and heartwarming, exactly the kind of Japanese BL I enjoy watching after a long day. I cannot wait to see their romance blossom, the misunderstandings they will face along the way, and most importantly, how these two boys eventually find their way into living together.
One episode down, nine weeks of sweetness to look forward to!
