That’s what I had to do with the wars before to figure out the timeline when they were younger too. Especially…
I am a huge Nokia fan, I see Hong Jun using the Nokia 6210 that was released in 2000. I had one just like it lol.
Maybe they had taken some liberties regarding the timeline and may be off by a couple of years? But then again at this point, their child is already 10yo, and TXM walking in the drive path where I see solar panels, could indeed be 2000s already.
Today’s episodes are ok. Friends come and go and it is really rare to still maintain a great friendship with…
As a non-native Chinese linguist, my ambition is to read and understand the original text, Analects by Confucius... maybe not in this lifetime, but I shall keep trying. :))
In today's episode I even learn about jade and a bit of its historical/cultural significance to China. I am searching for more bg information on the topic.
Re: falling out with childhood friends, it also hit me hard. People come, people go but the rest who stay and walk with you for decades and onward are much appreciated. :)
If you only into this drama only for romance, which I hope you are not, then it might be different. But if you…
Agree with you.
Though true that "romance" is listed first in the genre above, this show is way MORE than that. I'd say it's more about life: challenges, triumphs, failures, choices, friendships, family issues, careers, ideals amidst the setting: Beijing, China from 1975 to mid 80s (up to ep 28 at least) and beyond. It starts when they are young and impressionable, but through the years we also see how they grow -- together or apart. Many things happen here. Romance is involved yes, but there's a lot going on here.
If one wishes to indulge in a show for escapism via romance, this is not it. There are other shows for that.
I must say thought that the scriptwriting is excellent. So is the ensemble cast. Too bad the director is no longer with us, he did an amazing job, too.
Episodes 19 and 20. Really good. Here's a high quality drama right here.
Making me think and revisit my life choices. What if.... ha ha. I have little to no regrets tho. I hope the characters here make wise choices too, and live with the consequences. Where dreams begin... how do they end?
I can see that most of the drama's viewers here like romantic and fantasy idols dramas but this serie is for more…
Agreed. Today's episode is very insightful. XCS has new friends as well as the old. Let's see how they will grow together, or apart?
There is more to the life/dreams of youths than just romance. Looking back, I don't remember much about my youthful dalliances. But I remember very good friends who share the same ideals, we remained friends through the decades.
This series is making me think of a big what if, like what if I enlisted in the military? How would that experience shape me? Guess I will never know.
1970s aesthetic here, it was appropriate for our time. If the "youth" you seek isn't here, zaijian. This drama…
Same actor also played a teenager in Miles To Go, 2023, a drama with the same vibe, wearing same braids, riding similar bicycle. It was set in the 80s. Life was tough back then, but that built character.
Your post is about appearance. Youth. I am watching this drama to relive mine.
Since you dropped this already the point is moot, no?

"The propensity for divorce in China increased 42% between 1982 and 1990."

Ergo, what is 42% of the couples in this show? :))

Hui divorcing Heizi, much deserved. I hope Hui comes back. I miss her already!
Now even my beard is all wet. :(
(Did I already say that this drama is good? Let me say it. Again. Hen Hao.

This is for me. I am in it for the story and character development. I can't wait for the next 40 minutes when the new ep drops.
You said you don't like, then just don't watch.
Accept this. Move on.

This drama isn't for everybody, esp not for the youth obsessed. We will all grow old, wonder what you'd look like at my age (swipes beard).
