Yep, was part of the husband's plan to downplay his health condition, so the doctors won't do so many checks, and in turn both save money and able to push blame onto doctors for performing surgery leading to his death.

So the wife continued with her plot, and kept insisting it's the doctors' fault. Until later, when her daughter convinced her of her folly that she repented and tried to make up for it.

The wife was complicit in hiding the husband's condition, and had his body cremated instead of doing a post-mortem.
