I think it was separated from episode 28 because it was all happy moments, a different vibe from the rest of episodes. At the ending of episode 28, he might very well survive the blast since he planned everything before. Xie Huaian might look like a 'suicidal' but he always planned for a way out in all his schemes. This drama was meant for 32 episodes so I reckon the last scene was always included in the story. It is also part of the express for all viewers, while other drama 'extra episodes' were usually for the Chinese viewers (subbed by fans) and added later.
Even knowing what the ending is about before starting watching episode 25 (that usually made me less interested in watching the rest of the story), this drama still shocked me with its plots and twists and also managed to make me feel so emotional with how the trust, loyalty and friendship between characters were delivered. I am at a loss for words to tell how absolutely great this drama is. The story telling is amazing. The characters delivery is all beautiful and flawless. Acting skills level top notch. The music, OST or backsounds are all on point. From the beginning to the ending (+ extra).

Ye Zheng is suffering from lovesickness (for Zhaolu) and is going to find her. They both still meet with 'Xiao Wenjing'. The grand preceptor visit Xiao Huaian at Yulong ridge where he is 'detained' and be the problem solver for the empire.
