I was thinking, if everyone says there's a happy ending, then there's only one possibility for me: their son's death wasn't accidental, maybe even Meng, who killed the dragon, is one of the villains (Why would a mortal who's just a little bit more than an ordinary person kill a divine being who exchanged blows with the FMC?). Maybe a higher power or someone planned it all from the beginning, would kill their son with the heavenly punishment or the way it happened, with the MC sealing his powers and someone might have even set up the plague. After all, it's too much of a coincidence that all sorts of tragedies happen to the FMC just when they're powerless. The only way for them to reconcile for me is the one I said. I believe that when they told the MC "You can't have children", maybe there was a hidden meaning.
