I completely agree with you, he seems to have ulterior motives for pursuing her. Also, there was this look in his eyes when he told her that even if two people start out loving each other, the love eventually ends. I don't know why, but I feel like that statement was personal; maybe not his personal experience, but that of someone close to him. Although I don't think his intentions are quite pure just yet despite the care that he is showing her, but he is certainly quite intrigued by her and her unpredictability. And I also think that the interests of other suitors in her will serve as a catalyst to make him realise that the intrigue has morphed into real feelings. He seemed quite suspicious/jealous of her interaction with Jang won though.
