I'm thinking grandma has guessed Yanxi's identity. I mean: a) can ride horses, b) had to join the army in the north (specifically the expression on her face when listening to him talking about the north), her letter goes missing for the first time ever when he happens to be in the house. It's not a stretch to think she's kept track of her bff's family and is aware of the grandson in the north with the muddle-headed sister. Particularly when the Hua family visited the mourning family when his mother passed away.
Also, if you think think the ML has an expressionless face, you do not want to see him in 'handsome siblings'. In comparison, in this drama he's practically soap opera melodramatic.
Well they is nothing new in story line or plot for any drama genres that we don't know yet, what makes every drama…
I haven't watched every single thing that Zhao Li Ying has ever been in. But generally when I have caught one, it's a quality production with little to any excess fat needing to be trimmed off.
Her and Yang Mi. I don't think of myself as a 'fan', but when it comes to those two actresses, if it's a genre I fancy I'm 99.9% sure I'm going to enjoy the hell out of it.
Thinking on it a little more....Normally excessively fleshed out side character's story can occasionally be annoying,…
An example of what I mean from side character's stories in 'Love Like the Galaxy'. By which I mean FL's (Shao Shang) grandmother, parents, siblings, cousin and the Wan family. Every now and then we'd get little scenes absent the MC Shao Shang in which these side characters in some way or another remarked on her successes or trial and tribulations, but we also see how they are progressing in their own right.
Frankly they could've made a mini series centred on Shao Shang's grandmother having some sort of journey and I'd want to watch it.
(I love 'Love Like the Galaxy', a top quality production, have re-watched it a few times.)
People all upset with the poor script. Meh. Yeah the script has it's stupid moments, but I wouldn't say the production…

Normally excessively fleshed out side character's story can occasionally be annoying, but also occasionally is enjoyable. Depends on the character. Depends on the story.
Given her value to Mai's overall story, I wouldn'tve minded seeing Xiu's story in accompanying Mai fleshed out more. I mean, if the scriptwriters are able to adjust Mai's story arc from book to screen, couldn't they have also made an effort to be more creative with Xiu? We had it to a little extent with the depiction of Xiu's interaction with that general's wife. From then to now, not that much more of a story from Xiu's perspective. But then, the story overall hasn't really had much depth since the end of the Beimo battles either.
People all upset with the poor script. Meh. Yeah the script has it's stupid moments, but I wouldn't say the production overall is THAT bad. (There does need to be something good enough to watch at least ^^.) It doesn't rank amongst the more stupid dramas I've watched. I mean, I couldn't make myself watch past the first few episodes of 'Go Go Squid', but others seem to rave about it. Since I've watched this drama to this point and it hasn't far to go I'll watch to the end. ======= If anything this drama has made me ponder a little on why some get to be labelled as a 'lead', since if Mai and Yizhi end up together it will be a great injustice to the character of Mai. In the aspect of Mai being the main character and it being *her* story, if FL had been the only one labelled 'lead' it would've been good. But maybe 'lead' isn't just the main character (or couple in most dramas), but the other characters which the main character mainly interacts with. So if our Tang bro gets to be called a 'lead', then based on her screen time I think little Xiu sis should also be labelled a 'lead'. ======= Someone said earlier that they wanted Mai just to take her little sis and escape these lunatics for a better life. I would adjust that to say not just Xiu'er but the Yu kid as well. No way is he going to grow up well (if at all) if left in that environment to fend for himself. Based on how malleable Yizhi is to other's suggestion, Yizhi would no doubt have been some way or another talked into overlooking poor treatment and even murder of poor Yu.
At one point I was going to complain about Yi Zhi being too malleable to suggestions from his advisors, to the point that it puts him at odds with the FL's personal interests.
But then ... isn't that what we'd expect from a good leader? That he be willing to listen and adapt to his advisors?
So yeah. Maybe he'll end up a good national leader, but he's shit as a potential life partner.
the plot should be more about amai and chang yu qin an the ratings would go up biggggggg
WRC seriously needs a lot more lead roles. (Preferably all with long hair, just because.) It's a crime to the female viewership population that he's been cast as the enemy general.
I really don't get why the crown prince had to off himself. I mean, I get the plot as it was put forward, but I just don't see any human in real life doing this when they have other options ... and he had other options.
So I have finished the latest episode 26. Very exciting. I know there are already different details between the…
Haven't read the novel, but given the series so far I'm willing to bet my next sunday roast the wishy washy Yi Zhi ends up betraying her expectations and she doesn't marry him.
AND I AM SO READY FOR IT!!!!!
I'm not saying I'll relish the expected melodramatic pain, tragedy, and excessively wrought scenes. Not that type of viewer. Just the fact the seemingly fairtale prince washes out to an ordinary man, regardless of his position in life. The growth arc of the character is a bit different from the usual spotless shiny shiny male lead.
If I win this bet I'm loading up that roast with extra roast veggies. Especially the orange ones.
Such a great tragedy that WRC is playing an enemy general.
ugh
WHYYY!???
...anyway...
So I'll be cheering on my Tang xiong. I hope he's not already married.
Fan Xian kills a character using the rifle left by his mother.
If there's one thing I'm hoping they change about the book it's the northern temple/archive. I'm very much a fantasy/sci fi buff and was hoping for more of a story from that plot point than what we got. But realistically, it probably won't be developed into more than what it was.

I was referring specifically to how he gets skewered at the end of s1. In the book the following series of events would see him get taken to the palace where the emporer fusses over what seems to be FX's death. I was thinking that if the plot of s2 still somewhat follows the book then they'll likely still do that in the drama. Especially because it means Ruoruo gets her moment in the sun and that dramatic turn in her life's fate that follows, and also because the emporer seems to express concern for FX's wellbeing in the drama, regardless of his machinations.
Were my eyes mistaken? Wasn't the same actor who represented the emporer in the January trailer?
But then Ruoruo doesn't seem to have the same marriage pressures as in the book. And also the details of the skewering are just a biiiiit different. So maybe they already had a different path following the injury planned even as far back as filming season 1...
Also, did I see Sizhe giving lessons to a group? I was thinking it was the prostitutes and maybe that line of plot would continue from the books as well ... but the moment in the trailer went by fairly quickly.
When one of the introductory scenes has an elaborate hair ornament in the FL's hair even before the bandage is unwrapped I knew : MELODRAMA BABY!!
This is gonna be a bumpy ride...
XD
I see it regularly in c-dramas and I never understand it.

I need to find out why every other chinese temple seems to be called 'Dali'.
Not a minute into tonight's first episode and Minister Lin "Qin Yu is still alive"
pffft X,D

This plot point just doesn't sit right with me.
I was so totalling not expecting that turn simply due to the expression the actress normally wears. Totally hit me for six.
