It's not generous because he is an actor with a huge base of SEA fans. He is held to a higher standard. At least now he should know to not make comments like that. First, he is popular enough in China that they won't blink an eye. Second, it's well known in Chinese culture SEA are considered not pretty, smart, or successful as they are (because we are darker than they are). I am Viet, and I totally understand the context of what he said. There is no confusion about it. You would not understand unless you grew up in Southeast Asia.

That is because the show is set in Hong Kong, and HK speaks cantonese not Mandarin.

That sounded like he was using SEA as a putdown by saying that he looks like a SEA... What-- darker Asians must be the field hands, since he is stuck in the archaic male superiority complex. Chinese beauty standards require a very fair complexion to be considered beautiful. Tsk, Tsk, really disappointing, but whatever.

I see why it did not pass censorship. In the first two minutes, there is a bath scene, and it looks like she is jerking him off. Sigh, it really wasn't that bad; you don't see anything, but China is so ridiculous. Anyway, I am disappointed that this is a vertical. It ruins it for me.

I totally agree. Its so funny and rather original compared to the other stuff that is on right now. This one is so much better than his other one that is currently playing.

For me, this show is not a thirst trap where we are constantly looking for romance. Rather, I feel that the gem about it is the societal themes that the show tackles head-on.
