As far as I remember, Han Li left Qu Hun to protect the Mo Family. Later on the story when he descended to the mortals, he reunited with the Mo daughter and found that Qu Hun do not respond to the bell anymore. When Han Li investigated he saw Qu Hun with a family- wife and child. Han Li later found out that Qu Hun's body was occupied by a Core formation cultivator from spirit controlling sect.

I tried to read the novel, but long novel is really not for me, I almost got dry eyes trying to read the novel so I did mot finish it and dedicated my time to the donghua instead🤣

He left Qu Hun there to protect them, later in the story they reunited again. I watch the donghua, I don't know if it's the same with the novel.

Story-wise, Han Li is the only Main Character, everybody else is supporting characters. This is his journey to Immortality.

I accidentally stumbled upon the donghua last year on youtube and it was amazing that I binge watched it. I'm still catching up every update of episode. It made me interested to find the novel but it was too long. So for me, the donghua is worth watching. Still depends on you tho, if you are more of a reader or visual watcher.

Yes, I remember it was slated for 40 eps then after final editing it was made into 30 eps. Aside from censorship, Youku seems to want to shorten their dramas affecting even the finished filming ones.

I'm currently watching the donghua. I feel like Aimi as Ling'e was great casting.
