Title A Splendid Match Spoiler
Yesterday I was ranting about why the heck if Ye Xian had a beautiful ending with adorable wifey and cutie-pie kid, they needed to change it so drastically in the drama, but, I guess, they just wanted to make him an unforgettable tragic hero, one of the fav tropes, and, yep, they succeeded for sure^^
I was giggling so hard all the way through Ye Xian's side chapter and also from the ending of the main chapters, as the novel ended with him as well hurrying home to scold his pregnant wifey (who decided that his precious books needed some air, so they needed to be saved from her efforts) XD
But on the screen his ending in the drama was epic no more no less, I'll give them credit for that...^^

But today I learnt about another drastic change, for which I'm actually very greatful, cause it was a bit shocking^^'
At first I was only worried about Ye Xian's fate in the novel, so I just looked that up and left it till I finish reading PoJ, but curiosity still got the best of me and I looked into it a bit and... found out that CXQ is actually eldest biological illegitimate son of CYY in the novel and even more disgusting as a character O.O
Now that was unexpected, holy sheesh!
And, somehow, gave some strange vibes, tbh...
The title "Splendid Match" is definitely has smth more to it than flat "hero and beauty" combo...
I'm quite an open-minded person, but still got this irky feeling, good thing they changed it in the drama, in the novel CXQ married and GJZ got a daughter-in-law of almost same age as herself O.o

Oh, I feel you, I left a comment somewhere down below today about how the duo of Ye Xian and lil Emperor were…
Same here^^ I guess they wanted to make him an unforgettable tragic hero here, they do love such tropes so much...^^' Today I learnt they changed not only that, but for this change I'm grateful: in the novel her first love CXQ is actually CYY's eldest biological illegitimate son and... when he married GJZ got a daughter-in-law of almost same age as herself O.o That threw me aback quite a lot... like... the title "Splendid Match" definitely has more to it than the flat original meaning about "hero and beauty"... and in the novel CXQ is also quite alive and kicking, but his character even more disgusting... There's a very good translation on mydramanovel, gonna read it properly (I just had a quick look because of Ye Xian), cause I need more of Ye Xian, lil Emperor and later his wife, although there's not so much of them, unfortunately...^^'

Title A Splendid Match Spoiler
I'm crying so much 😭😭😭😭😭 I watched up to episode 35 and saw a spoiler about Ye Xian's death and…
Oh, I feel you, I left a comment somewhere down below today about how the duo of Ye Xian and lil Emperor were my fav characters here from the get go and... how it ended for him in the novel^^ I'll repeat just a small part of it, hoping it'll bring some comfort to you, as it brought to me:
"I'm so happy I found a translated novel, because... Ye Xian is alive and happy there (almost, cause he's still not over GJZ even several years after main events took place): he's married to a very kind and virtuous woman, who loves him dearly and I'm pretty sure will always be by and on his side, although she's a complete opposite of GJZ, so he's often frustrated with her behaviour and disposition, but she's a very likeable character and there was a hint at the end, that there's still a chance for him of warming up to her and them having a harmonious life together, they have super-smart cutie-pie kid, he's a trusted aid of the Emperor and on good terms with the main couple, country is doing well, as the young Emperor is way too capable, I love this ending...^^"

Title A Splendid Match Spoiler
Does anyone know what the main character's ages are approximately? I'm wondering because the FL had her coming…
In the novel they have 15 years age gap, he's a widower twice her age, as she's 15 in the beginning^^

I almost never comment, cause way to shy to do that, but... I just wanna leave this bit of ranting here...^^'
Maybe some will find comfort in how Ye Xian's story really unfolded in the novel like I did^^

Ye Xian and lil Emperor were my 2 fav characters from the get go, and, yep, I'm surprised myself, that I liked Ye Xian so much, even more surprised I liked him from the very beginning, cause it's not my type of hero, my type is someone like Li LianHua (Mysterious Lotus Casebook) or Han Li (The Immortal Ascension), so by that logic I should have liked CYY more, but sensed there was so much more about this fellow from Win Win's acting (he was just on fire here, absolutely stunning performance), it got me hooked, and their duo with lil Emperor was way too precious, I liked his tremendous growth as a person and as a character, main couple didn't impress me that much, they started off so strong, so it kind of felt that they on the contrary toned down towards the end being such powerful and meticulous smarts asses in the beginning and quite frustrating after their marriage, especially CYY, who was supposed to be much older and wiser, like in the novel he's 15 years older than GJZ (a widower twice her age at that), and still acted like he acted, honestly, for me his image of "perfect husband material" shuttered just like that, or did he have middle-age identity crisis or smth at that point, having such a young spirited clever beautiful sought after wife, Ye Xian is definitely much more interesting in comparison from this angle, as he's almost same age as GJZ, just a lil bit older, and steadily growing from "angry teenager with issues" into a fine young man (with lil bit of character still, but his icy and at the same time chili-pepper personality is hard to deal with yet adorable, main point being that his heart is in the right place and he acts upon it)^^

I'm so happy I found a translated novel, because... Ye Xian is alive and happy there (almost, cause he's still not over GJZ even several years after main events took place): he's married to a very kind and virtuous woman, who loves him dearly and I'm pretty sure will always be by and on his side, although she's a complete opposite of GJZ, so he's often frustrated with her behaviour and disposition, but she's a very likeable character and there was a hint at the end, that there's still a chance for him of warming up to her and them having a harmonious life together, they have super-smart cutie-pie kid, he's a trusted aid of the Emperor and on good terms with the main couple, country is doing well, as the young Emperor is way too capable, I love this ending...^^

What I'm pissed about is... just why scriptwriters can't stick to originals on such important matters, it's ok to subtly change things (even lots of things like in MLC and PoJ (love both novels and dramas, they're great in their own ways), or TPoB (in case of TPoB I'm really greatful for the changes, cause I liked the drama very much, but was utterly disgusted by some events in the novel and couldn't bring myself up to keep reading) for the sake of looking better on screen or maintaining viewers' interest or passing censorship and other things like that, that's understandable, cause I agree that reading a book is one thing and watching a drama is a whole different story, but... but killing off one of the main characters just for the sake of angst, stirring emotions of the viewers, sloppily tying loose ends to make sense from the hasted ending, when in original there's a whole different story for him, that's just purely... so... meh... I'm highly disappointed, especially since it seems to be already quite a tradition, when sometimes even HEs are turned into BEs... for the sake of... I dunno... art... or viewers' investment... or commercial interests... or smth else...><' There's a lot of that in real life, just give us already normal endings at least where they're supposed to be from the beginning, shoosh...><'
