i love highschool jbls istg.
you know that when i spend the entire finale giggling and asking for a season 2, it means i loved the series and i need more lmao.
i know most people want less highschool bls and they want more mature ones with complex characters (though when provided they then say it's boring or they don't like it anymore 👀) but to me, highschool bls just always have that fresh breath of air and a certain level of cuteness that is sometimes unattainable in mature bls as those rather focus on different parts of life meanwhile, these focus on learning about yourself, love and what it means to love as well as learning to be yourself around others instead of making yourself feel smaller.
popular serizawa acts weird around me is such a sweet, funny and chaotic story. it's definitely not for everyone, especially for the people that think stories like this get boring or are apparently easily rage baited by everything in existence lol but it was definitely for me. suzuki is definitely dense and slow but i also cannot blame him, he's spent so long making himself smaller and convincing himself he's not worth any attention so him not realising that serizawa likes him isn't all that unrealistic and nor is the fact that he's so oblivious and dense (truly, people like him do exist and that's not a bad thing lmao). and serizawa, i loved how we got to see him being so carefree and loving towards suzuki but equally as protective of him - nobody should be made fun of for the things they like, especially by people who are supposed to be your friends.
the friend group is just so endearing, everybody cares about each other and they all joke around and know one another so well, i loved the last episode and the way they were laughing at suzuki the moment they saw how in the 9th cloud he was. they're all so chaotic and funny, truly the perfect friend group. their meetings were the most hilarious shit istg, especially as they were there to help serizawa and suzuki all the time but also laugh at their expense, it's just perfect !!
another thing i liked is the fact that they talked about serizawa's jealousy and possessiveness, one thing you'll always get with jbls, especially highschool ones is that side of these characters and it's not unrealistic either, they're growing up, their brains continue to develop and it's also important to have those conversations and know that your partner feels a certain way and reacts in that way too.
i don't even know how much more i can say without repeating myself and just overall saying that i love this series and i NEED a season 2 (and seeing how so many jbls are getting that, THIS NEXT PLS).
that last shot with the two of them resting their foreheads against each other, THEY'RE SO ADORABLE UGH.
okk, bye bye now, i'll miss them so much ugh. (still eyeying those takeuchi and iwasaki interactions...).
