You should try and look up their childhood pics. To me there’s not much of a difference, probably got some fillers here and there but no major work done + makeup plays a huge role.

If you watch a lot of shows about secret clans/ armies / assassins or what not… the weeding out process to get rid of the weak concept is quite common. Also, you kinda have to watch further to know but it’s not just fear that’s controlling them or else people would have just up and left to gain their own freedom. They unknowingly drank poison ( eggs of some sort of insect I forgot what) and it requires them to get an antidote every half month. So yea… they really got no choice but be bound to the sect.
Shangguan Qian & Yu Wei Shan have more chemistry than the lead couple does. Even tho their scenes are just full on dialogues I don’t find myself skipping a sec of it. I would die for a fight scene between the two of them.
