I want to watch this, But I don't think I can ever. I am fan of popular war period manga/anime KINGDOM [story…
Watch the 2020 production of "Qin Dinasty Epic", for comparision. It deals with the same real life characters. but boy, how much different that show is. And Duan Yi Hong, the actor playing Lu Bu Wei, is superb. I could not have enough of his nuanced acting ...
Just finished watching this classic historical cdrama a 2nd time. Enjoyed the drama but asking if a helpful viewer…
Also watch the 2020 production of "Qin Dinasty Epic", for comparision, ending and closure. It deals with the same real life characters. but boy, how much different that show is. And Duan Yi Hong, the actor playing Lu Bu Wei, is superb. I could not have enough of his nuanced acting ...
What in the low budget, bad writing and acting did I just waste 40 hours of my life on? 🤣🤣So I’ve read…
Indeed. So much so of a shock since most of the cast was part of the stellar 2018 production of "The Story of Yanxi Palace". It is more of a let down and heartbreak, when you see what the same actors delivered in Yanxi Palace ... Also, for comparison, the same topic as in the Legen of Haolan was taken on in the 2020 production of the "Qin Dinasty Epic". I watched that one for one reason only: actor Duan Yi Hong who plays Lu Bu Wei. His is a performance out of this world ...
Hi everyone, this is my first Cdrama, I would really appreciate it if anyone recommend something similar to it🙏I’ve…
The Story of Yanxi Palace, 2018, 71 episodes, set around 1740 The Story of Xing Fu, 2022, 40 episodes, set in the prezent time; actor Liu Wei, playing the local PCC leader, is to me a sort of Anthony Quinn: outstanding!!! Life is a long quiet river, 2022, 35 episodes, set in the prezent time I will find you a better home, 2020, 53 episodes, set in the prezen time
To me, these are all outstanding dramas. Chinese actors act like there is no tomorrow, proving that indeed there are never small roles, but only small actors. As for the dramas set in the present time, there were a real shocker to me. I mean I do not get how they went past the censorship, given the sensitive issues they raise, regarding the PCC policies, and the candid depiction of a brutal, competitive world the Chinese live in. At the same time I do not understand why The Story of Yanki Palace, which is set almost 300 years ago, had a hard time going past the same censorship. I understood that one of the issues was that the emperor's character was somewhat too likeable for the censors taste. Well, he was. But at the same time he was the worst serial killer. For someone coming outside of the Chinese culture, it was a shocker to find that the most frequent verb used on the show was "shala", that is "kill". A lot of killing and torture and treating human life like specks of dust that can be easily disposed of.
