That kinda makes sense. I noticed that when she is overly negative about something it's probably the reverse of what I liked. So although she was useful at the time now I just ignore her.

As the saying goes "better is the enemy of good" . To me it's way better than what I expected and probably as good as it gets.

The show is based on the book so some percentage of lore must be present whether it makes sense or not. Although limit is 40 and there are 36 eps,there must've been some unmerciful editing happening as well.

Sometimes what you read and you think is awesome is very difficult to put on screen and even harder to do well. I agree with a lot of what kateoz said. It's a very heavy section and all sub quests are very dark and vast swaths of it wouldn't be for everyone. Here,I think the man sliced and diced well enough to keep most people happy.
Like even a journey down river alone could've taken the whole season easily. I do want to see the end while I'm still alive and with more or less the same cast (even if most of the scenes I hoped to see didn't make it).

S2 is definitely not a filler and they got over that lore-hump pretty well. Now hooks are in place for a finale and it will probably feel different to S1 and S2 again.

Just checked my version, my chapter fit 336 to 492 if we count illegitimate 7th Ming who appears somewhere in the beginning of the river journey being a pirate and ends up taking over family estate in the end.
