i think getting a couple to kiss is a just a lazy way of showing emotions. although i find it harder to believe when couples reunite after long separation or just about to separate. but it could be just cultural difference.

ml is a general whose age supposed to be 28, the female is a young wife who is supposed to be 17. hence choosing actors of exactly the age as required by the script is appropriate provided that they fit the storyline etc., etc.,
