Ah, sorry. yeah, rincewind is a wizard in terry pratchett's discworld novels. TP is like a heavyweight in english literature so check him out.

anyway, rincewind's strategy for survival in magic world was to run away so majority of spells that he could do were those related to extraction. so that kind of rings the bell. but yeah overall the show gave off to me terry pratchett vibe.

actually cant remember the name of the novel where during one of his trips they ended up in hell and demon lord was planning a rebellion so they convinced demon lord that he needs to re shape organizational structure of hell first and implement proper management processes. eventually he was buried in paper work so he was too busy to rebel. not a bad ending for this set up too :D

the novel gets very convoluted and it doesn't align to what we have. like he's supposed to marry Ling'e and Yun Xiao; and stay around. obviously that's not happening. the final battle seems to be against "heavenly dao" ... here it could be against fate.

i just hope they don't over complicate things and stick to family friendly rating coz i was really hoping that ML is based on Rincewind 😆

i'd say we need to figure out if what they expect is a calamity or tribulation. if it's a calamity then the return of demon lord kind of qualifies.

tribulation is mentioned a lot in different contexts. if it's a tribulation i would expect it to come from the same place where thunderclouds come from. but in the english translation of the novel there's "great god-conferment tribulation" is to select a super god to rule over the three realms. something tells me he has to overcome challenges other than being hit by lightning but i've no idea.

there's a mention of a goddess undergoing a trial as well (with a chaos bell) in human race i only picked out bits and pieces but it sounds like lane'r is either the goddess or the goddess is her mom and lives in the chaos bell. but "jade emperor" is also mentioned so i assume he is the guy who will win.

but yeah i expect that seal to be broken with the help of that lad who hangs around with dragons. demon lord comes back. many people will die. eventually most will band together. our lad will sacrifice himself and will be comatose in the real world.

the celestial court doesnt look completed. and like its main lord scuffles with some fairy and a human for that sword so clearly it's a world based on some courtesy and tacit understandings rather than anyone acknowledging superiority of the other. to me it doesn't look like there's an established authority in this world to dictate rules, but that's where it's going.

as far as saving gnat's clan. well maybe he will go and save them but is someone oppressing them any different from humans oppressing crab and shrimp soldiers when they went to the beach for training (essentially for a laugh) should someone step in too? does the fact that dragons flooded village of seizing sect offset that? or is it the case that seizing sect deserved for seizing stuff from everyone. there are no rules so everybody can point a finger at the other.

im sure that soon they'll unite together to fight the demon lord or whatever and work everything out.

im not sure how he can shoulder the blame for her deeds, but when he became aware of what was happening he somehow sensed that it's his fault and he should get involved even though he forgot the girl. no one else from celestial court turned up to help.

i don't think it really makes a big deal whether they let her go now or not. and he doesn't have to start flogging himself right away to atone.
... we'll just have to see how this twist develops. the remnants of her clan are held hostage by someone so her being coerced could end up being a mitigating factor as well.

i doubt that ML or anyone else is going to tell that lad that it's nothing t do with him and he should keep on walking and that request to let her go didn't feel like a request :D

he said that he will carry karmic punishment for what she does. so the people who were directly wronged act against her, is it really karma that got her? how do they know what punishment karma planned for her (and void).

im still brooding over gnat chic being left off. she became sentient because of void mage. the lad destroyed her clan. she swore to avenge them, and set off to do that. so technically yeah the lad is to blame but im not sure what he expects when he asks for her to let go. like he assumes that karmic debt but does he intend to take punishment for it? what form is this supposed to take ... (shrug)

him standing up as if he became part of formation confused me as well.

Qi Yuan was just trapped in formation, used as a "core" so he was not being actively killed. Jiu Wu had no spiritual power while taking hits from someone who was using demonic power. kind of looked like he was taking more damage than anyone else from ascendance sect.

i suppose it was just a matter of time before they would turn it up to 11 😕

i now try to steer clear of "healing" dramas in general. at best they go on hold at worst i feel cheated as well 😆 ... i'll send you a message in a bit we still didn't wrap up MRN discussion and we are in a comments section of a completely unrelated show 🤣
