Nice premise lacks on execution with a forced "happy end"

I do like low budget productions in general, but in this case, they skimped on the runtime which makes the series feel rushed in the end. If it were me, I would have omitted the "happy end". It makes no sense to meet a guy who looks exactly the same and for all intents "feels" like the ghost which would have been impossible.

Acting was ok, giving us a bit of fluff and good vibes with a dark undertone. Of course the actors are also handsome, that may be a bonus point for some viewers. I have not much else to say besides, it's an ok show for what it is, even when I think the ending is "lame". So binge-watch it, if you are interested, but I would stop when the ghost is disappearing because that should be the real end.

What a mess...

I have no idea why someone thought to have two 3 minute episodes and a 5 minute final was a good idea. The cut of this is so hectic and the scenes are so short, it is hard to follow what is happening and why. The chemistry was lackluster, the acting was ok, but nothing more.

I wasted 11 minutes on this, but I needed to take a break from "Alice in Borderlands" but instead of switching my brain off, I had to think about the story. The music choices were at least "strange" and production quality can be described as medicore with unbalanced sound and subpar microphone quality.

This story needed at least five minutes more (which would not be that expensive) and a more elaborate script and of course a real kissing scene. Overall, quite bad, but maybe you like it more than me :)

Too short to make it believable....

To tell a story of a man who has relation issues and compensates that with lot of sex with anyone he fancies can't be told in four ~8-9 minute episodes in my book. While we get an happy end, I'm not convinced that this releationship is stable. To create a fake profile online to check on a potential BF leaves a bitter taste. It would have been much better if Mr. Blonde one has talked about his issues before. It's only mentioned in a short scene in the middle of the final episode.

I did rewatch this short series again to find out if I missed something, but there was nothing. Production quality was surprisingly good and even the acting was not bad at all. So overall I think it's a nice watch but it misses some deeper story elements. But in 2025 we have to be glad, that we get at least some decent shows even when they are a bit too short for my taste.

many clichés, great acting

I only saw the prequel movie of this series some years ago and this series went along without I'm noticing it. Luckily I got to see it now.... So before you watch this series, you should watch the movie "The Boy Foretold By The Stars" first.

I'm a bit split with this series, because I really hate all the clichés they put into the series, and especially the bitchy mother. Also the more comedic bits with the fortune teller I could life without. On the other hand the relationsship development was well thought out, the acting was great and believable. While there are always some fluffy sequences there always comes the punch in your stomach which will give you pause and the couple faces a bigger problem. It's really an emotional rollercoaster.

While this series is not perfect, the important parts of the storyline are always there. I guess philipino BLs are glanced over easily which they should not. Compared to the crap nowadays (2025) especially from Thailand, this series has many redeeming qualities. So I would recommand to give it a try. Because this is a continuation of the movie, I would urge you to watch that first to get more context. Overall, I enjoyed it.

One giant plothole....

Excuse me? Where is the story?
We know, they were together in the past, but we have NO idea whatsoever why they split up...
And then, bam, they are together again, but we - the viewers - still don't know what happenend in the past. We only know he had a shitty father and that bastard died in the end.

I don't get such productions... It's extremly short... they did change actors inbetween even if it was short, than there was a girl who was petty as usual and beside some cute scenes there is nothing.

What a waste of time. Even when there are scenes in the youtube membership section not visible for the normal folks, I am not interested in, because the story did not exist, the plot-hole was so deep, I was distracted the whole series of what happend with them in the past. (Yes that girl had something with it to do, but why did they not talk about it, how did they misunderstood each other... that is all not explored and so, ruins the story completly.)

Sad, funny, wholesome and great

What a nice series. First a story of two brothers were one of them struggles because he is on the autistic spectrum and then the struggles with the estranged sister and her little son. It's a journey of growing and understanding.

The standout of the show was the acting of Bando Ryota who plays Michito. He was so amazing, with all his expressions that it felt extremly realistic. With his painting background he was a perfect choice for this role. Also the other cast did a great job. Cinematography and production value was high, the script was very good.

This series was sometimes very sad, it was sometimes very funny and it had a great balance. I can recommand this series, even when it was sometimes hard to watch.

folklore meets BL, but it failed to deliver.

I like a premise where fantasy/folklore is part of the story and in the beginning they did well. Till episode 4 they had an animated intro which did explain bits of the tale which played out 1000 years ago. With ep 5 this part was gone and we had to wait till ep 9 where a lot of the background was explained. This episode was the best of the series, but I felt they should have given us more background. The part of the BL was also a long time in the background and overall I think the couples lacked the chemistry needed to "sell" it to us. It got better in the later episodes but imho it was not enough. I would have liked to have seen more of the past and less in the current time.

In the finale we got a quite satisfying happy end for the main-couple, but the side-couple was just a 2 minute insert without any details or depth. Overall I felt the series lacked a constant pace, some episodes felt a bit streched and genereally I missed the focus of both folklore & BL. We also have an antagonist and with his smirk in the last scene (and with a scene before), there is even an open end for a season 2.

Production quality was very good, which felt a bit of a waste considering the script. I think the actors did lack chemistry with each other. They did kiss, the side couple landed in bed together (but we did not see what happened there), which was fine, but I never felt a longing for each other. So I'm a bit disappointed with the outcome of this series, because they have tried to do a good show, but I think the script was too weak to do so. For me it's an ok show but not a show I will watch again, except if there is a season 2 to refresh my memory. This show will not leave a lasting impression.

No story... just a well made soft porn...

There is not much to say about this...

The two special episodes don't have a worthwile story, there is just forced drama. At least compared to the series there are no violent scenes, there is consent and the couple talks. So this couple just works... also with their chemistry together.

Production quality went above and beyond, but everything else was just a soft porn with some interludes. Beautiful pictures, lot's of NC scenes - a dream come true for all the fangirls out there. So, if you liked the "My Stubborn" series you will definitively like this. But my best friends was the +10s skip button. 🤣

More fan-service than anything else...

OMG that story was painful to watch. While I like fantasy and scifi this was so badly written, I could not imagine how bad.
If you see your lover dying and go to the other world to save him, you will not fall in love with someone else out of nowhere. That was incredible unbelievable. You have a sickness while somewhere on the ass of the world (means a small town somewhere in the jungle) and there is one book which describes where to find a cure. Of course there are berries nearby in the jungle and they could not find a stick long enough to collect more than one berry. But two berries heal you anyways, incredible.

This show is soooooo overrated because they had a lot of nc scenes which was fan-service at his best. They could have expanded on the story of the side-couple which was much more believable but of course they didn't.

So while the production value was high, the fan-service over the top, the story was really terrible. And everyone who says you should watch it, they lie.

Very strong beginning, but loosing pace and focus on the story.

As usual many series have a very strong start... but then it feels like the writer(s) loose focus on the story and the finale cumulated in a chaotic fashion for the first 10 minutes and then nothing much happend.

Compared to shows like "Fourever You" we see what Pond can do, when the character in his script is well written. But overall the story was not that good. Some illogical things like telling that he's come from the future, is something nobody would do. Bom was also interesting in the beginning but that faded when he got overly mad. He flees somewhere without any clothes but in the finale he was impeccable styled - that made no sense for me when we see him in the last episode in the run down house with not much in it. Yeah and the side couple was just an extra. They wasted time with the main couple but did nothing to explore the other one at all.

Besides that, it had some redeeming qualities such as very good cinematography, OST and the acting in most cases. Compared to many other shows this started very refreshing but still failed in the end imho. In the end the positive aspects outweigh the negative ones.

OMG, this show is only for braindead people...

As usual with GMMTV and most thai shows this year, this show begins with a good premise, but the story and execution fall flat on the belly, like when jumping from a 10m tower.

I am speechless how bad this show is and how many people dig this. It's not the worst show this year, but it comes close. The story is boring, partly childish, all over the place, very predictable and of course both MLs have mental baggage to deal with... And everything will be resolved easily... There are some good moments, there is some production quality but overall it's bad. So it's the same story more or less then any other Thai show and the kidnapping only plays a role for 3 episodes. The actors are underutilzed, most characters are very one-dimensional and I feel sorry for them to have to do such a crap production with bad and lazy writing.

Let's talk about the portrayal of the Thai Justice System: When you watch this show, you think Thailand is the worst. Yes, there is always some corruption anywhere but come on... If I were working in that system I would be pissed about the show. The "bad" woman in this show kidnaps and tries to kill one of the leads and his dad, but the next scene shows, that she goes free for ANOTHER trial. How would that happen in real life? It would not! You would still be in jail for the OTHER thing you did. If you have been catched @ attempted murder, you will not get a free of jail card!!! Period. This was ridicilous! What are the writers and director thinking? The wrote in that she goes free and is murdered by a victim!

And don't let me start with all the product placements... GMMTV does get a cut from the actors for every ad they do, but they still have to fill up nearly every show with overbording product placements. It's so annoying and people (fangirls?) still reward such shows with a high ratings. 🤷‍♂️ So for me, this was a disappointment.

I can only recommand to watch this, if you are really really bored, otherwise most shows from Korea, Japan and Taiwan in 2024 are much more worthwhile to watch and have a consistent, well written story and good acting (because the script is well written).

A bit childish, a bit cringe, a bit forced, a bit fluffy and a bit mature

Not sure what to write, my headline says it all. There was lazy writing, there was not so good execution and there were lots of flash-forward on the start of each episode which did nothing for the flow. It maybe an art style but it confused more than it helped.

The problems of the chars are a bit forced, a bit over the top and unresolved for too many episodes, especially regarding the "older" couple. And then it's easily resolved and everyone is happy which feels forced too.

Again lazy writing and not so much character development as needed. Also I think you could tell this story in just eight episodes, especially if they would have cut the unnecessary drama. The premise was interesting but they did too less with it, they could have shown how the couples and all of them grow together in a more meaningful way.

A nice touch was the inclusision of the follow on show MLs in the finale.

It's not a bad show, it's not a good show, it's a bit cringe, a bit fluffy, a bit silly, a bit childish, a bit mature and a bit fun. You could have watched worse.

It's raw, it's dark, it's light, it's depressive, it's happy, it's sad - it's the full spectrum.

As usual I went into this "blind" - I did not watch trailers or read about it, I just knew it's playing in a tumult time for Thailand. Of course this is a drama and it does not represent historical accuracy, but it depicted quite accurate what the gist was. There were protests, there was political killings and there was a revolution (a bit later). Thailands military still has more power over it's goverment than any democracy should have.

This series is partly hard to watch. Not because it's bad, because it's so acurate, because the acting is so good and of course because it's so sad - in a good way. The company said this is not a BL, it's a gay story - and it mostly is. They did not disappoint in their description. There is only some fluff but mostly it felt really realistic.

Tanwa (played by Mile) is a typical end of 1960ties free spirit (they would have said hippie at the time), but without a direction. Trin (played by Apo) is more or less the opposite, he knows what he wants and he knows what he stands for. This two worlds clashes and after the traumatic events where Victor (played by Peter Deriy) died, Tanwa find the courage to move on by his mothers unreleased book (given by his father he was at odds). Then we have a second couple, the colonel and the journalist - a poetic love which could not be fullfilled, because the colonel decided to protect his love and sacrifices himself for it. I have read comments that say Dhevi is the villain, but of course she is not. The colonel used her (and her family) to advance his career and he had to pay the price for his decision. This also saved the live of his love the journalist. Is it nice? Of course not, but such were and are (sometimes) the realities we live in. It was quid quo pro - he gained social status which made him go through the ranks of the military into a powerful position and she gained just the man she loved even knowing he has no feelings for her. And in contrast to most BLs: She got not furious and made no scene. It's just realistic.

All the cast were really amazing. When you know that Tencent in the form of WeTV financed this project it's absolutly stunning that they did all that what they can't do in China with such a controversial story. Of course this is a hurtful story, this is not the typical BL fluff you may expect. This is raw, brutal, repulsive, sad but also poetic, happy and beautiful.

For me this is a 10 (for the uncut version), because besides the realistic approach, a good story and the production quality, it's the right step for Thai's entertainment industry to not just cater to the fangirls. The story is the star of this show and not just some actors. So, if you have not seen it, it's a must watch for me!

As usual a slight derank for the cut version because this version should not exist at all!

Good story, good acting, but no conclusion and not a BL!

That is not a BL, it was just a queer story, with bullying and hardships for many youngsters. The focus of the story is not the love (interests), it's just to form a volleyball team. And that's why there is an open end and no conclusion. We don't know who ended up with whom or even if the friendship between J and Uno got where it once was. This is the bitter taste after you watch this show.

The story was good, the acting was good, the production was good, so this is really worth a watch. But any fangirls will be disappointed because there is only a semi happy end. And it's not a happy end in a romantic sense. So I hope, you can enjoy also a queer story which is in contrast to almost all BLs out there.

sensible, symbolism and real kisses ?

This was not on my radar, but good friends recommanded this series to me.

RANT: The worst part first: The subtitles. Who the fuck thought of this font and that they need to put pastel colored text on a pastel colored backgrond in the beginning of every episode? It's unreadable. Second the normal subtitles were a joke as well, it's 7pts and anyone, even with perfect eye-sight will have trouble to read such text if the person has a reasonable distance to the monitor/TV set. I needed to watch 50cm away from my 30" monitor which is annoying as hell! You can add normal subtitles on youtube easily and it would not have mattered. To hard encode subtitles is a crime as well. END OF RANT

Yeah, sorry I had to write the "real kisses" in the headline 🤣 This is a chinese production and I was expecting the censor-hammer coming down on them. In this case it didn't, which makes this a stand-out in itself. The good thing besides that, we get an actual story, with actual emotions. More or less a coming of age story but not from the gay lead but his soon to be boyfriend (soon means it's only 7 epsiodes 12-21 minutes long).

The cinematography was stunning, the symbolism worth noting and overall the actors did an excellent job. I won't spoil the story further, but it's sometimes painful (emotionally) to watch. Overall I can also only recommand to watch this, because it's an nice uplift compared to the crap thai companies are forcing on us (except two shows when I'm writing this review). I hope the extra episodes will be as good as this was.
