I was captivated by Wang Anyu & Zhao Lusi's Chemistry
I tuned in for Zhao Lusi because she never disappoints, but Wang Anyu turned out to be the real surprise package. I’d never seen his work before, but the dude held his own against Lusi’s powerhouse acting. Their chemistry was natural as breathing, and his delivery was on point. No wonder he gained so many new fans through this drama.
Now let's talk production... oof. For what's supposed to be a big-budget xianxia, the CGI and editing looked weirdly cheap. Those scene transitions? So jarring they took me right out of the story every time. Such a shame when the cast clearly gave their all blood, sweat and tears on full display here.
Silver lining: major props for letting Lusi and Anyu use their real voices. So many dramas dub over their actors, but these two proved why original voices matter. Their line delivery added so much depth to their performances.
Story-wise, i'll admit xianxia isn't usually my thing. But credit where it's due—Shenyin kept its complicated mythology relatively easy to follow for newbies like me.
Final Verdict: The main quartet absolutely carried this show. Their on-screen chemistry and off-screen friendship were honestly the best parts. Lusi and Anyu in particular were total professionals who created such a positive work environment. It's a shame the production team didn't match their effort - this could've been truly special with better execution. That said... can we get these two in a modern drama ASAP?
P.S. The OST slaps. Having Lusi sing the opening and Anyu handle the ending was a genius move.
