Pointless vapid parade of handsome post teens.
This is a terrible waste of time. There is so much awkward overacting and phuwin is unwatcheable. But above all the script is just terrible. As in really really meaningless, full of unswallowable vapid nothingness. Syrupy boring on pointless. I never knew Pond was actually a good actor until I realised he really made an effort to make these terrible lines work. But don't waste your time on this. There is such sn abundance of better BL out there today that wasting time on this is criminal. Was this review helpful to you?

Cute but predictable
This is a run off the mill short bl but the main characters are rather cute. Good entertainment with some classic a little predictable twists where the villains get their comeuppance. There isn't much in the way of innovation but at the same time it is almost comforting to see a completely reliable bl with reliable timetested tropes. Was this review helpful to you?

Middling not too memorable story.
This is not a bad story but also not a very memorable one. The story of a best friend who is really just a friend zoned guy hung up on his best friend who is a player, tug-pull occurs until enlightenment sets in and someone realises why he can't hold down a relationship. Entertaining enough as you watch it but nothing that really sticks in memory beyond the week. Was this review helpful to you?

A sweet story light and simple
Mostly held up by endearing portrayal of the penguin and panther dynamic. This isn't a very elaborate story but overall the characters are engaging, and the married couple is a sweet portrayal of marital normality. The female characters in particular are for a change strong and admirable rather than being cardboard girls. I could relate to them. It's entertainment at its simplest done well enough. Was this review helpful to you?

Up and down
This series is uneven in it's delivery. It has some very good passages but also plenty of fillers that given the short format undermine the storytelling. The story in itself is a little on the thin side but it is weighed up by the bonding between the characters but it doesn't come together seamlessly. Still it is short to watch for a "bl" break where you don't want to spend to long on a story. Was this review helpful to you?

A very sweet take on 2 guys confused by being in love.
This is beyond adorable. The actors are pretty much everyone very good in their roles. The tom boy girl stunt, her sidekick, everyone were good. The two main leads were extraordinarily cute, convincing in their characters, the abundance of straightforwardness combined with occasional shyness, occasional squirming, and dimples everywhere you look, makes for a lovely story. These two do excellent "man lost in love beyond all hope" face. Just watch it, it is short but perfect. I only took a tick of the points because this could have been even better with a little longer running time to flesh them out and a full format but as it is it is a gem of a microdrama, and a gem in vertical filming. The compositions are very well done, it does great use mirrors and shoot s it in a way that works for vertical. Was this review helpful to you?

Cheesy but excellently told and executed
There are plenty of mach man, damsel in distress tropes in this short drama, but the cast do an excellent job keeping them grounded, meaningful and human feeling. I particularly like the scenography, lighting and camera work in this series, they made the most of the location. The main leads have incredible spark, the female lead Chen FangTong projects character growth from sheltered somewhat clueless to in charge of her life, while Dai Gaozheng as always broods well, projects the powerful military man well, and shows of his body (which is a treat even if cheesy). The plot devices are a bit thin and compressed by I've come back and watched this several times and every time it's a treat in setting and dynamic. Also it's nice to see some genuine-feeling desire on screen in Mandarin given its relatively chaste screen tradition. Chen fangtong work very well in that department, affection feels unforced, even the tug and pull of feelings and desire is wellportrayed. Was this review helpful to you?

9.5 because rather than BL is is social realism with gay stepsibling romance in the mix. A weak mother, abusive father, working class poverty, and the broken people it entails. This is dark, painful and lonely. More hell Joseon than Korean wave. And finally two lonely people trying to cuddle up to eachother hoping to find a semblance of warmth while trying to hedge their bets because they don't have much trust left in them. But incredibly well executed for a short low budget series. I really like it. Not for people who need their entertainment meal fullt chewed though. You have to read between the lines, you have to understand something about the world, including it's imperfections. Was this review helpful to you?

Love isn't a unburstable bubble. Deep, sincere and realistic.
I cannot put into words how much I love this story in its quiet simplicity, genuine love, and realistic pain. Rarely has it felt more true that silent waters run deep. You can tell profound stories with very little fuss. Sometimes love is hard and sometimes the world is hard on you and you need to be stronger and wiser to be free. Was this review helpful to you?
