The Ex's Boyfriend show
The way Netflix is trying so hard to recreate another Daishun is honestly painful to watch, and it just isn’t working. On top of that, almost everyone in this season already knows each other, which completely kills the excitement for the audience. The charm of meeting new people, unexpected interactions, and fresh dynamics is missing, and so are those new, exciting vibes that made the show appealing in the first place. William and Izaya, in particular, give off very uncomfortable and forced vibes, and nothing about their dynamic feels natural. What made Season 1 special was the variety of personalities. Characters like Alan, Dai, Shun, Kazuto, and many others all had distinct traits, genuine chemistry, and real individuality. Each of them brought something different to the table, which made the show engaging and emotionally interesting rather than predictable.
In contrast, this season feels flat and pre-planned. Most of the personalities are forgettable, and the interactions feel staged instead of organic. The excessive screen time given to William and Izaya feels unnecessary and forced, almost as if Netflix had already decided their storyline before the show even started. At this point, it doesn’t feel like a reality show anymore..it feels like scripted acting being pushed onto the audience.
So far, the only person who genuinely stands out to me is Huwei. He has a natural charm, a warm presence, and feels real on screen. He is brutally honest..Plus, he’s absolutely adorable—like a big, cute panda 🐼. Compared to the rest, he’s the only one who actually feels interesting and worth watching..bomi is also cute..
Overall, instead of letting connections develop naturally, Netflix seems more focused on manufacturing a “successful couple,” and that’s exactly why this season is failing. Chemistry can’t be forced, and viewers can clearly sense when something isn’t authentic.
