This drama centers around a main protagonist (Mukai) who, having found that he had reached the 'ripe' age of 33…
Well put! This niche j-drama tries to unravel layered complex human diversity in a bottled up Japanese culture, and I find it fun to watch. On the other hand, viewers with more open and straight-forward tradition will probably find it frustrating to watch, since these characters do think about traditional love and marriage, and finding it unsatisfying.

And I think that is the fun of this show, you see so many missteps in their youth (their 20s) about love and self, and the learning process into their 30s. The sister is an unique character, who has the immature idea that expects the guy to figure out why she is upset. She is both frustrated and conflicting.

Nobody in this show has the right answer. But if there is one key point the shows is hammering into your head, it is to make sure you listen and talk properly with your partner. Someone without love can feel very lonely, but so can someone with a family. If you and your partner is 100% happy all the times, one of you is faking it.
