Totally agree ! Why am I even surprised of this WTF ending ?
In the novel the ending was explained. The guy in the last scene is Yai Kanthorn, he is the grandson of Lek (Yai's younger brother) and the 3rd and current reincarnation of Khun Yai, he gained his memories as Khun Yai (1927) and Commander Yai (1700's) when he saw Jom's picture. Sadly due to budget limitations, they are currently not YET capable of producing the 2nd part of the novel to explain everything, the setting is set in 1700's and needs lots of budget to make it happen. But the director and the whole cast are willing to reprise their roles if ever it will push through.
