Disclaimer: Haven't watched the series and I highly doubt I would after reading the synopsis.
I'm scrolling through new 2023 C-Dramas and came across this drama, I'm baffled. Hear me out, anyone else reads Chinese Light Novels? Well there's a light novel in the name of "The Rebirth of the Malicious Empress of Military Lineage" with the protagonist's name of Shen Miao and another important supporting lead name Pei Yan Zhan, whom in the Light Novel is also a scholar.
Sounds like this drama aims for more Rom-Com light heartiness type of series, just my view from the synopsis(Correct me if I'm wrong, not watching the drama)-whereas the Light Novel carries more gore, vengeful, rebirth plotline leaning more towards seriousness. The premises is different, yes but the names of characters just rubbed me off the wrong way. Maybe I'm nitpicky but this just doesn't sit right with me. Now I don't know if this is intentional or anyone else has noticed this with the naming of the leadings in this drama, but I do. Why do I care? It just bugs me is all, and if you disagree with me, it's okay. You're entitled to it, so as do I with my opinion.
But to those who wants a better read and hopefully this novel gets a live C-adaptation, check the novel. I promise you, it's worth reading.
