Pursuit of Jade is a masterpiece of storytelling with one missing piece
Pursuit of Jade is one of the best Chinese dramas I’ve ever watched which is why I give it a 9/10. the only reason I deducted a point is because of the male lead which I’ll talk about later.What truly stands out about this drama is the richness of its plot and storytelling. the events are not simple they are layered and interconnected and full of developments that constantly keep the viewer engaged . the story moves smoothly between political conflicts , schemes and wars alongside the romantic storyline without ever feeling messy or overwhelming . every event leads naturally to the next and even the smallest details play a role in shaping the story making the entire experience feel cohesive and immersive.
What’s even more impressive is that the drama doesn’t rely solely on its main plot. it weaves multiple subplots that add depth and dimension whether through the backstories of side characters or the evolution of their relationships . this balance between tension , drama and romance keeps the pacing strong so it never loses momentum in the middle like many dramas do , it keeps you hooked until the very end.
As for Shangyu she is an outstanding character who carries the drama effortlessly and I’ve genuinely connected with . her struggles felt raw and deeply emotional to the point where I could feel the weight of everything she was going through as if I were experiencing it alongside he r. Tian Xi Wei’s performance brought the character to life delivering every emotion with sincerity and depth . she has definitely become an actress I will look forward to watching in future projects.
On the other hand Zhang Ling He whose best historical role in my opinion is still Xi Wei in The Story of Kunning Palace , didn't show the same strength here . his character was introduced as a powerful and feared marquis but what was shown on screen didn’t fully match that image. his strength felt more like something that was told rather than shown . most of the time it was the female lead who stepped in, fought and saved the situation even against the strongest opponents creating a noticeable imbalance.
I don’t mean that the female lead overshadowed him , the issue lies in the lack of defining moments for him. he rarely gets scenes that truly highlight his strength or influence and at times he feels more like a supporting presence. even side characters including minor soldiers were given stronger and more impactful moments . it’s hard to say whether this comes from Zhang Ling He’s limitations in action scenes or from the writing but he doesn’t fully live up to how he was presented . I do hope his role in The Road to Glory with the same writer will be better.
Meanwhile Deng Kei delivered an outstanding performance as Qi Min. His character was psychologically complex and carefully written from his backstory to his motivations for revenge and even his family dynamics . His cold aura and strong presence made him one of the most compelling characters in the drama and I truly hope to see him in leading roles in the future.
The love story between Gongsun and Princess Shu was also beautiful and heartfelt. Personally I found their relationship more appealing than the second lead couple that gained more popularity .
As for Li Huai An portrayed by Ren Hao , his character was somewhat disappointing . he wasn’t given any significant moments to showcase intelligence or real impact on the storyline which made his presence feel underused.
Overall , the acting across the drama was strong and convincing with almost every character delivering a solid performance . The fight scenes were smooth and enjoyable especially those involving the female lead which added a lot to the viewing experience.
The direction was also impressive . I especially loved the visual atmosphere , the snowy settings contrasted beautifully with the warmth of the city creating a unique aesthetic that sometimes even felt reminiscent of Switzerland.
The soundtrack was another major strength . the music was beautifully composed and perfectly matched the tone of each scenewhether it was intense battle moments , emotional drama or romantic scenes enhancing the overall immersion and emotional depth of the story .
In the end Pursuit of Jade is a richly detailed and well written drama that successfully balances action , politics and romance despite some shortcomings in the male lead’s portrayal, the strength of the characters, performances and storytelling makes it a truly memorable and worthwhile watch.

What can be said for this drama ?
A superb , suspenseful show that combines drama and Romance involving the politics at its best .incredible storyline and spectacular acting from all the actors , i personally think till now Zhang Ling He gave the best performance of his career in this one .
the Fl is adventurous , brave and witty , She knows what she wants and isn't shy of getting up snatching it up.
the ML is a grey character who gets pretty obsessive over the FL , he has a dark and twisted childhood. He fights to maintain control of his memories and always knows what to do and how to handle situations .
Also the drama has a host of deep side characters who are more than just side characters , the second ML isn't just here to make the ML jealous but he has his own emotions and his journey towards his career .
the princess has the best character development the growth in her character is great .
the only two things i'm not satisfied with are :
- the way some scenes are directed , I found it extremely exaggerated .
- the death of You Fang Yin makes no sense she died pointlessly to protect nothing , it comes from nowhere , i think it's the stupidest sacrifice a drama character has ever done .
otherwise the show is really worth exploring .

one of the best Modern dramas to ever exist
Out of the usual cliche modern romantic Cdrama this one took romance to a different perspective . it's not that typical cheesy plot where the FL stuck on her high school crush without dating another man , expecting stuff to happen and waiting for him her whole life .she confessed , he rejected her and doesn't return her feelings then she moved on with her life .
- so the ML thought sharing the same interests is the important thing in the grand scheme of a relationship , he wanted someone as smart as him and didn't consider the FL as his ideal girlfriend since she was maybe just a beautiful face for him but as he grew up he realized that understanding and sharing the same values is what matters in a relationship .
his life didn't turn out the way he imagined it to so he kept rejecting the FL when they met after years because he felt inferior to her , we all have moments of self doubt , this is what i liked about this show , there are very few dramas which make you feel that this is reality .
- The FL is the definition of you don't have to be the smartest and get high grades to be successful you just need to choose the right path for you and take advantage of your strengths .
the chemistry between the ML an FL is on fire , the way they were communicating openly and honestly with each other , sharing their dreams , aspirations , were actively supportting each other , were able to compromise and make decisions together is so heartwarming , this is how being in love should be all healthy .
Wonderful mature romance , the story isnt getting milked and finishes right where it needs to be , absolutely worth watching.

definitely worth watching
I honestly could watch it several times and never get bored , everything is amazing the characters, the plot , the humor , rich tapestry of politics but not in a boring way , Incredible storyline and battles , the action scenes are very well directed and the OSTs are extremely great too .the first season might be a bit slow but in the second season we get such a fast paced turn of events and i think this is the strongest point of the show , the writer took their time and they developed both story arcs and characters arcs so when stuffs happen , you'll be hooked.
All the actors own their roles exhibiting superior craft with expressions alone . another main feature that distinguishes Love Like The Galaxy is its character development .
- the FL is shown to be stubborn and immature girl in the beginning but as the drama progresses she develops into a mature person with a good control over her emotions .
- the ML went from a person who doesn't embody love and caring to a man who'll do everything for the woman of his life , but i'm glad they didn't change his dominant and ruthless personality after he fell in love because it's what make him the unique general Ling buyi .
The tension and chemistry between the main couple is insane too .
the greatest Political Historical Cdrama of all time .

The secret in hidden love popularity is the warmth and the positive vibes that you can feel between the FL and ML , the lovely family and the chaotic brother 😅Duan jia xu found his home and comfort in Sang Zhi is so heartwarming 🥺
Sang Zhi drunk scene is the cutest and the funniest thing ever 😹
Despite being a low budget drama the cast is brilliant and everyone gave great performances . The plotline , The writing are well done which led to get a huge amount of views and recognition .
Zhao Lusi as always never disappoint and she's the queen of chemistry 🔥 and Chen Zheyuan smile is so healing 🥺🥰
This drama is perfect to feed your heart and make you smile 💝

one of the best fantasy dramas to have ever been produced
Once you start watching it you won't be able to stop , The amount of scope it has is unrivaled by any other drama like It has everything : heartbreak, angst , romance ,betrayal , unpredictable story line , the CGI and the visual effects are top notch , the screenplay and the cinematography is of high quality , it has incredibly high production values with excellent costumes and set design and the Osts are pretty satisfying to hear .there's a strong cast of actors who put on tremendously great performances .you'll hate some characters to the point you want them to die and you'll love some characters so much that you wish they should live forever but they'll die suddenly , the chemistry between all couples is insane.
I highly recommend it , it’s one of the best fantasy dramas to have ever been produced .
