Just finished watching "Black" and was sort of surprised that they shared similar key plotline and notable scene with "Longing For You" : (1) death of a half-brother carried out by his doctor-step-mom transplanting his heart to his sick half-brother (his step-mom's son); and (2) swimming pool scene wherein the FL is being tied to a chair threatened to be drowned.
Unfortunately, the romance-subplots of both shows are so contrived although "Longing for You" is more 'acceptable/tolerable' one. Black's romance angle is so forced and icky as I found the main-leads could only pass at the most in an uncle-niece type of relationship.
In this show, I found myself rooting instead for ML's original lover (the doctor/victim) and found their connection story-wise more grounded and compelling while the one with FL is nothing but pure delusional, forced match-up. Thankfully, iQIYI's video player is with preview thumbnails thereby facilitated in having skipping through the ML+FL scenes by the time their forced-romance kicked in and continue on enjoying the core part of the show.
The comical pre-ending story-telling scene (after that is pure garbage) is such a welcome relief as it laid bare on how the director and the writer actually mocked the romantic angle of their show.
Black's (Joon) scene with his real mom at the eatery up to his mom's house is the most poignant and remarkable one for me though.
I find Tharn's best friend (Asavarid?) having more oomph and chemistry with Tharn. than that one playing Billy.…
ooops...as checked further, the actor's name playing best friend (Yai) is actually "Gap" Jakarin Phuribhat. He's the one I preferred to be playing Phaya over that Billy guy.
I find Tharn's best friend (Asavarid?) having more oomph and chemistry with Tharn. than that one playing Billy. The Billy actor though one not bad, but I'd rather they should have switch roles or as the 3rd party. Billing-wise. why Asavarid relegated as 3rd support (with 2 other characters) while the other two insignificant less-remarkable characters were having solo frames?
Present day FL is just passive, reactive, and dumbed down and the ML is, if not brooding and mumbling, just strutting about. Not worth rooting for, could not care anymore what they'll end up - the support characters just moved their story along. What a wasted premise of their ancient yet more compelling story line. Hate to see the leads end up being the doormats and marionettes. Have to rewatch Perfect Marriage Revenge just to refill my drained expectations.
