okay of what i can remember the dad tells his own son phoon to stay away from tonfah because the dad is afraid phoon might accidentally tell tonfah or his parents that phoon's sister died in a car accident.
(i think it had something to do with money cause tonfah's family is rich, but don't quote me on that 🙈)

so yeah tonfah knows phoon and phoon's sister since childhood because they used to be neighbours. and i think phoon's dad especially wanted his daughter (phoon's sister) and tonfah to get married one day, cause tonfah's family is rich and hoping to get some money out of it i guess.
and also the reason why tonfah or his parents didn't know about that accident for a long time is because they moved away and therefore had less contact with phoon's family.
