I want to say it was the CEO, but it could have been the cast ..anyway...they said it was a gay series, not bl. It's about love between men. BL is normally written by women for women. It's about the romance between 2 people, but tends to ignore, or vastly under play the actual experience of being gay in this world. They also frequently lean into stereotypes as most of the authors haven't experienced life as a gay person. For example, the character could date a girl one day, then have a boyfriend and their friends don't even blink. Coming out doesn't result in the loss of friends. Maybe mom or dad cares, but that's always a minor plot line. Honestly, it's why I like BL's. It's more of a utopia and not so depressing. Sadly, real life is heavier. Now, we have seen a slight movement to address some of these issues, but they're still not the main plot line. Think, Moonlight Chicken and what happens when a partner dies.

The cast has been very specific about this...Shine is NOT a BL. It's LGBTQ content. They say it's the first LGBTQ TV show in Thailand. So, let's respect that and stop calling it BL.

This says 46 episodes, but Netflix ends at 40... Am I missing something?

How did this even get made? I give Thai shows A LOT of grace because I understand their budgets are low, but... This is boring even if I just take it as a giant tourism ad. The trouble starts with the script and snowballs.
