Please ignore that comment about slapstick acting. Slapstick acting is exaggerated actions for the sake of comedy. Its not an excuse for bad acting and directing. I only watched the first episode. The acting isnt the worst ive seen but its not the best. Comedic scenes are okay but their shortcomings are pretty clear in serious scenes. It's a little akward for sure at times (scenes that are supposed to be serious, not funny so it doesn't involve any slapstick acting). You should watch it for yourself because every person's tolerance of bad acting is different. It's also different if you are fans of the leads. It's an okay quality production (as in editing and sound), but it's obvious these are young actors. Its a nice concept. You should give it a try.

The only way I see this as being possible is if those actors don't become famous from this show. That is because chinese actors use bl as a stepping stone to a "normal" acting career. Chinese actors see acting in these types of shows as something you can mock someone about (and you can't really talk about it in mainstream interviews because china doesn't admit same sex relationships (it's not illegal, privately you can admit it no issues but it can't be main stream)). Actors do this because it's the easiest way to get famous. CP fans are absolulely crazy and they don't care about your acting skills. And once they become big, they will never ever touch bl again. Their fans won't allow it even if they want to. That is how it has always been (xz and wyb became famous because of a bl but after they became big, their fans started hating on cp fans. they even reported AO3 causing it to become inaccessible in china. admitedly their cp fans have gone a little crazy but that is because the show they got famous from is a bl)。

I didn't watch the show, just a few scenes but holy shit the acting is good. bl acting can sometimes be very cringe and when I see good acting I'm always pleasently surprised. they look like seasoned actors and it's such a nice change! 😁

I found this show pretty funny and fun, but I can understand those who don't like it. Even if i found it funny, i also found the acting a little too exaggerated (I know this is the goal of the show but this can sometimes be a put off). This show really depends on the viewer's own preferences. You can love or you can hate it. Please don't take any comments about the show not being funny or good personally. They are all personal opinions and no one opinion is more valid then another's opinion. Everyone please calm down and just enjoy the experience.

the stalker thing I hated in the show. I preferred the novel Version. its just so cute that Toh basically fell in love at first sight with nuea and nuea basically was already secretly looking at Toh before Toh even knew he existed. its more of a two way 🥰 crush.

the novel does it alot better. here we feel it's a lot one sided while the novel we understand why nuea fell for Toh. if I was in nueas position I would for for Toh as well. Toh is pretty different in the novel imo. I just read a few chapters and I'm already in love nueas perspective. the story is just so fluffy. but the show total ruined the vibe in my opinion. its just cringey and I didn't like Toh at all.

for those who haven't read the novel you should (try to find a good transaction). it's really good. i just started but I absolutely love dohs character when I didn't like him at all in the show. he's so funny. if you like the concept (popular guy falls for not popular weird guy) give the novel a try.
