Underaged actors are not forced to do NC. By the way that Ep9 scene wasn't even an NC, it was a love scene/fade-to-black at most, and if you see the way William speaks about it he is clearly proud of his work and is happy to be in a BL.
I saw a few comment criticizing Po’s character and when I can agree that not every character can be to everyone’s…
I think "we don't need it" meant that he didn't need the song to make up with Dylan, because they did end up producing it, so Po's efforts weren't totally wasted. It was the "Would You Mind?" song that got stolen by the company. But Po definitely felt disregarded in that moment though.
im not a fan of newer gmmtv bls (like i haven't even touched their new ones) but this is pretty good the plot…
This show is definitely an oddball because it was under Parbdee Studio which was later acquired by GMMTV. The project had been in development for 5 years and didn't move along until they found the right cast in William and Est.
slightly disappointed with group's reaction for Pepper, i thought they would fight stronger to keep the couple…
I don't think MARS knew they broke up until the Pepper said it at the press conference. They were all under the impression that they were still together.
After watching this episode, I now understand, literally and tangibly, why Est claims to have been single for…
Est actually answered a question at his fansign asking what job he wants his hypothetical lover (gender neutral) to have and he explicitly uses the pronouns "he/him" - which somehow never caused any big reaction (but of course there are shippers that interpret it as about WilliamEst). I would say the fans that are mainly troubling them these days are not the shipping ones but idol fans who don't like the fact that William wants to act in BLs because it's "bad for his idol career", not necessarily Est solo fans or homophobes.
As much as this conversation is necessary, it will sadly go over some people's heads. They'll keep trying to manage…
William actually said in a live after the ep today asking for "people who love me to love the people I love", so yeah, he unfortunately knows all too well.
Didn't move me, didn't bore me. The pace of the relationship was SUPER fast and it lost me somewhere but still…
They tried to cram 5 volumes of manga into 8 episodes, which is A LOT. For reference, HOTE was 2 volumes for the same number of EPs and Perfect Propose was 1 volume with 6 eps. I have no idea why they decided to go at this pace.
I didn't particularly like the original and thought this was OK. To me the characters' essence is kept the same, plus the pacing is a bit more streamlined, so they did a good job adapting it faithfully. I actually wish they changed more.
Actually one of the best JBLs. Mamocchi is a wonderful and relatable character. The themes, while not unique, are told in a fresh, engaging way. And of course the exaggerated anime style is the cherry on top. By the way, the manga is seinen, not BL, so the focus on their ambitions over romance is expected.
If you want season 2 the best thing to do is vote in Japanese drama polls, buy the BD/DVD and merch. But then it's already done quite well in polls lol.
Am I the only one that kinda wished Okuno and Sono were the pair?
They are cute, but Nanjo-san has his own love interest lol (his manga is called Twilight Playlover). That said, I also wish they had slept together at least once so I could see Sahashi more jealous :P
A fantastic show and a wonderful adaptation. I didn't care much about Kai in the manga, but here he stood out a lot more and I felt like the development of both leads were more balanced, thanks to the staff and Nomura's performance. The highlight of the manga was Hiro's struggles and they explored his psyche very well in the drama too. Yes, the workplace scenes are hard to watch, but that is its intended effect. Definitely in my top 3 JBLs this year.
Have any of you read the manga? If so, how closely does the show adhere to it?
This is like a transmedia project where they've put out a novel, manga, and drama version of the story around the same time. It's not based on an existing manga, though I don't think each version would deviate too much from each other. I think they cite the novel as the "source material", though.
Don't understand the complaints about the finale when it was the perfectly logical thematic closure to the story. They HAD to return to where they started and face the issues that drove them apart in the first place - the conservative rural environment, Iwanaga's disapproving family, their inability to express their feelings. I love geographical symbolism in storytelling.
question for anyone who has read the books. , i found them on kindle but havent read it yet, or watched this series.…
I second the other comment. I think they're equally good in their own ways, but pretty much every manga reader who's familiar with the story has loved the show (the author as well), while it's not always the case for drama-only viewers. For instance, lot of drama-only viewers are mad at the lack of kisses but the manga is actually just like that, and if you read further on they do kiss.
