I watched today Ep 26, I, so far, think, the relationship between the leading couple is according to their character. ML is the softer one in this pairing. FL is raised in a matriarchy bound to be loyal to the Rong Family-so, her character is special and it is difficult for her to change these internalized rules by the family and the Granny, that Granny does everything, even bad things to hold the family under her thumb.

I think, she does it because of mixed reasons. She was facinated the first time she saw him, she was annoyed how he wanted her to come and testify and wasn‘t sure, if he is a good man or not and for later episodes: she wants to protect him and protect someone else you get to know later.
