Obvious Ending — Don’t Waste Your Time
The concept of this drama attracted me because I love horror however, it’s an incredible let down. Some of the reviews praising the ending because it was ‘unexpected’ confuse me greatly. Being a fan of the genre has absolutely nothing to do with how I saw the ending coming because anyone with critical thinking skills could see it from miles away. Each episode hinted at it repeatedly, as a result, the ending was simply shown to you from the start.
I want to highlight several things which irked me.
1. Male Lead, His Decision and Personality
He should’ve left from the first episode. I simply think the excuse that rent is cheap was not enough to make him stay in such an unsafe place. There were so many red flags that I find it hard to believe that anyone would stay. Surely there had to be SOMEWHERE in Seoul that offered him something better even if we were shown that there was ‘no way out’. There should’ve been a better excuse/reason.
The ML himself is a very annoying character to watch simply because he can’t express himself well. Even in the most infuriating moments, he restrains himself and while that is his thing, it’s an incredibly annoying thing to watch unfold.
2. His Girlfriend
I don’t understand how/why they’re in a relationship when she’s visibly very inconsiderate, selfish and thinks less of him. She never listens to his concerns at all, they’re always swiftly brushed aside as nothing. The ML cannot express himself to save his life but when he tries with his girlfriend, she immediately shuts him down. The drama tries to force the notion that she loves and sees only him and yet she does everything to prove otherwise. The ML was struggling so much and the one person who should’ve been there for him, at least to vent, was completely absent and spent most of the time antagonizing him for silly things.
3. The Pace/Length
This drama got so boring and dragged out I had to skip one episode. It was just getting dragged on and on. There was nothing exciting going on. I even ended up letting the episodes run while I was on my phone because there was nothing worth seeing going on. This would’ve sufficed as an eight episode series. I don’t understand why there were ten episodes.
4. The Ending
It was very predictable. They kept hinting at it throughout the episodes like I truly don’t understand how anyone expected anything other than that to happen.
Long story short, don’t waste your time. The cast is great but the story is just long and dragged out only for them to deliver the most predictable ending ever. Not to mention, the ML is a very difficult person to watch because he’s allergic to expressing himself properly.
