Title The Last Oath
"A-Lie carried this man on his back for days when he was sick, saved his life multiple times, and completely…
I totally get where you're coming from regarding how their relationship started; A-Lie kidnapping Lin Zai was absolutely wrong and a horrific violation of his autonomy. Nobody is ignoring that trauma. But focusing entirely on A-Lie's past ignores the immediate, dangerous reality Lin Zai is facing in Episode 17. It’s not 'blinkered BL vision' to see that Lin Zai's desire to save this adopted family has completely blinded him to massive red flags. He Yao literally robbed them at gunpoint and abandoned them at an airport earlier in the series. Trusting a man with that track record isn't a 'rational choice '; it's quite literally a desperate, trauma-driven defense mechanism because Lin Zai is terrified of facing his reality and his changing dynamic with A-Lie. Wanting to save a brother is good yk, but letting yourself be actively drained like a biological lab rat by a manipulative stranger who views you as a commodity is a tragedy, not logic. A-Lie’s character development is complex, but he’s the only one genuinely treating Lin Zai like a human being right now rather than a walking cure.

Title The Last Oath
Omgggggggg I am genuinely so mad at Lin Zai right now because his logic makes zero sense! He APPARENTLY has deep-rooted trust issues, yet he is literally out here trusting every single sketchy stranger he meets, like the cannibalistic grandma and her family or a man who literally robbed them at gunpoint, while completely shutting out the one person who has bled and shed tears to protect him the entire time. A-Lie carried this man on his back for days when he was sick, saved his life multiple times, and completely changed his ruthless ways out of love, just for Lin Zai to turn around in Episode 17 and tell him he’s "overstepping"?! Lin Zai is so blindingly obsessed with chasing a fake, impossible "normal family" fantasy in the middle of a literal zombie apocalypse that he’s allowing He Yao to drain his health like a biological resource, completely taking A-Lie’s unconditional loyalty for granted just because he’s too scared to admit his real feelings for him. It is so sad and frustrating to watch him say they should never have met and push away his only real shield just to be a naive emotional punching bag for people who only view him as a walking blood bank!
