Tencent own a very good drama production house (New Classic Media). 2 out of 4 biggest hit dramas of this year were made by them... Now every actor/actress are trying hard to get casted in dramas made by them.... when will our boy ever get such a good resource??? 😢

he still has an event to attend on the 13th... i don't think he will attend any events or VS after joinig the drama.

iQiyi already made me get tired of Xianxia plots and Tencent/Youku are making me sick of wuxia/revenge/reborn plots atp 🤣🤣.

I agree with this.
More reason is costume dramas have thick filters/make-ups and costumes to hide the actors/actresses' disadvantages in appearances/acting. Modern dramas have less of those it's the reason why some actors/actresses don't dare to touch modern dramas. Also you can make excuse to use dubbing in costume dramas but in modern you're expected to use your original voices which a lot of these popular traffic stars lack 🤣🤣🤣

For me it depends on the acting and plot. Some dramas feel to draggy and some feel they need more episodes. But i agree about CZY's ability to keep people watching. There are some actors which i find very handsome at first glance but when in motion, they become bland and stiff to me. But CZY in motion is on another level from his stills, he has some of kind of special charm in every of his expression, it has depth and just lingers in your mind. He makes me think the character truly exists and feel for his character's whatever circumstances...

Tale of roses is a hit modern drama but the plot isn't to my liking... too toxic.

most are still costume. They're still being released/announced lol. Tencent just has bigger pool of pending dramas so that you think they have a lot of modern. i say the percentage are 70/30

Why is China so obsessed and not getting tired of costume drama yet? Tencent is flocking the market with tons of costume dramas with similar looks/plots... like I'm getting sick even just watching the trailers....
And the protagonist' faces are all similar. 2 or 3 Tencent princes are having 4-5 dramas each but no one saying anything but god forbid CZY having TWOT which was mocked to be a rotten cake before filming 🤣🤣. Which "prince" has such pitiful resources other than CZY???

buying hot search to promote dramas/celebrities is normal in c-ent. actually CZY's agency is the odd and cheap one here for never doing it 🤣🤣🤣

she seems to have no chemistry with any of her partners except YY (whose visual is a plus to create chemistry)

But their method of promoting are sometimes quite toxic... they would buy all the controversial hot search just to promote their dramas which will cause unnecessary fanwars. But bad publicity is still publicity i guess 💀

Tencent is a bigger platform. You can see in how they have all the actors/actresses coming to their press con to promote the dramas. iQiyi is more conservative and Youku is getting better.

Well the ZLH's drama is coming soon in July despite finishing filming later than TWOT so anything can happen. Both are on youku.
