I love this version and the pairing. I would like to see more of this pairing in the future.

It's very common in Asian countries that parent's chooses or dictates their children who to date. It's a culture thing that Westerner does not really understand. Because of the culture, some follow their parent's wishes and some don't which is one of the reasons why they elope and become estranged with their family.

I love the drama even if others don't. I'm not really a critic but I like that there is a character development for the cast/characters in the drama.
I always watch any dramas or movies with a grain of salt. The actors and production of any drama/movie takes a lot of effort. Acting is not a walk in the park and writing a good story/script takes a lot of inspiration to create. They did a good job delivering it well.
If others don't like it, they can just drop the drama or take out their bias ideas and start with a clean slate.

This started out great but came downhill after defeating Zhou Wei the first time. The writer could have wrapped it up with a different story line for the closure of parallel universe travelling differently. Instead they have to focus on the love triangle and fight for power i.e. family issues of the ML that it became a drag. It also sucks that they should have truly given justice to the people that was killed by An Jingling by imprisoning him if they couldn't kill him but they just secluded him to a part in the villa with lax of security. The writer needs to improve on this kinds of plot. I blame the writer here since the actors did a good job according to what was given to them.

Actually it's open to interpretation since the main leads Ru Yi, Yuan Zhao and Shi Shan's body was not shown. They may still be alive, if the writer's want a sequel for it. What I learned in some dramas if there is no body, then they might still be alive. Do still watch it even though its not the ending you want.

The drama is great and beautifully made, its just heartbreaking since the main characters died. Although its understandable because there is war, it would have been nice if the main leads are alive and fulfilled their promise to build a family.

Felt that the last two episodes where rushed or probably there was scenes that was cut. Overall, the story is good as well as the acting. The chemistry of Ireine Song and Fiction Guo is there but it lacks the sexual tension or attractions like with her other leading men. It's missing the "Oomph factor" we look for the main couple.

The chemistry of Song Yiren with Ding Zeren is one of the best overall her dramas. For me rating her leading men for the dramas that I have watched from her work would be:

3. Wang You Shuo
4. Leon Zhang
5. Aaron Deng
