Exactly banxia doesn't have responsibility like Xuan ye she's not demon like him so she fight more for their relationship is logical because however he love her more he can't fight for the relationship more than her because he don't have courage to do because first he's a demon hunter and than a demon he's afraid to hurt her and don't want to bring her in a relationship with him because he once said it's ok you don't remember me , until I remember you it's enough. I don't know about this but I saw an interview of him he said he doesn't care about the ending he doesn't purposely choose. Sad or open ending story he just focus on the story or now days whatever the story ending is the directors or the post production team decide the ending.
