As for the title, you're wrong. To be "broken of" something (usually a habit, vice, or dependency) means to be forced to stop doing it, often through uncomfortable experience, discipline, or a drastic change in circumstances. So if someone is "broken of love," they have been forced to stop loving because of bad things that have happened to them.
