All fans really know is that scenes showing Long Yu with other men were cut, so it was speculated that they were in an open relationship and needed to be censored out. Honestly, it’s censorship that’s making everything confusing. In the original version, they’re in an open relationship. Long Yu even brings guys over while Gao Feng is at home. There’s an earlier scene where Gao Feng is blasting music and Long Yu stormed in pissed off and scolded him. Long Yu had just been with some guy right before that. They cut it out which made the whole moment feels random. It took like a year and a half for this series to get approved. A bunch of important stuff got changed or removed during the review process which entirely shifted some character settings. Like, they also edited out a lot of what Gao Feng went through as a kid which made people don’t really get why he’s so fixated on finding his real mom. His obsession started as an abused kid thinking his biological parents would mean safety, and then it slowly turns into something unhealthy.

Fei fei is unreliable narrator and we can’t judge her from what she tells us. A big part of the scheme is being kept from us. the mistress is somehow related to Gaofeng’s mom case and we are not even sure what the fiancée is up to yet. She thinks she makes her own choices but she’s more like being setup by people closest to her . And something not accurate in what you mentioned is that Fei Fei wasn’t angry because the guy had a mistress. She was just trying to make the mistress to go away by paying her money so that the wedding can happen smoothly. The mistress threatened to release explicit photos of her fiancée . Thats when she lost her cool. I think it makes sense that she is not clear headed and makes poor decisions as she is being manipulated her whole life by her father.
Finished six episodes. Gaofeng and Qu Mengs narratives are very emotional and artistically shot. Ma sichuns arc is exciting with a lot of twists and turns. And the actors can ACT. I’m eating so good.
